I’m sure it’s been said before but Purdue’s QB Blough really does look like the Purdue mascot.

He also looks like the brother of Ash:

No the SEC is miles better than the BIG period and has been for years. Take the goggles off....
Well maybe if all schools had the same academic standards as the big 10 you wouldn't have this discrepancy. After all aren't we told school first, especially when it comes to expanding the playoffs?

And yet they still sometimes lose to B1G teams. How does that happen?

Agree you have to be careful with one game samples. But bowl games try to match representative teams from their tie in conferences to make the games competitive.

Despite this the SEC is 24-14 against the BIG since 2010 with the score differential being more than a TD.

Michigan should fair better

Something had to happen to the Boilers. Auburn is scoring every time they touch the ball.

They are embarrassing themselves. Auburn just has many more football players with speed and anger. That DL is damned good.

I agree with what Stewart Mandel used to say, basically enjoy but ignore what you see in the bowl games. It's a season unto itself and has very little to do with what happened during the season or what will happen next season.

This is a conundrum. On the one hand I can ignore all of the recent Bama NCs, which is great, but then I can’t be excited about husker NCs... maybe this applies after 2002?

This is true to a large extent, especially with taking bowl game results as an indication of how a team will do the next season. Teams that do great in bowl games often fare poorly the next year and vice versa. Remember after the 2009 Holiday Bowl when "Nebraska is back and we're here to stay"? That didn't last long.

I hear what you're saying, but if you won a NC obviously you had a great season and will PROBABLY be pretty good next year too. I guess to apply it to Auburn, the fact that they're blowing out Purdue wouldn't satisfy my doubts about the program after they went 7-5, and I wouldn't draw the conclusion that they're going to be great next season. But yeah, my statement above is ripe for having holes poked into it.

I was being silly. Apologies. I know what you meant, and that it generally refers to teams who aren’t playing for all the marbles or for rankings. And I agree with your statement about Mandel.

Just having some fun.

That’s fine, but Auburn would beat Purdue 1000/1000 times no matter when/where they played. That game resembled the shower scene in American History X more than a football game.

This could easily happen to the Huskers next year. Have a good but not great record, get a bowl invite and a difficult match up and get exposed. Regardless of what everyone thinks, neither Purdue more Nebraska have the horses yet. Two years for one HC and one for the other and expectations are high. We have a long ways to go to get into that upper echelon of college football.

Agree completely. Auburn had a rough year, they have a solid QB and are tough up-front.

They were itching for giving someone an ***-whoppin.

Watch Bama tomorrow after Tua lost the Heisman.
