Did u expect any different. Those guys have no clue what’s going on here they get a talking point and wing it for most of the topics. They have always been big Cal guys as well cuz he’s a charismatic guy.

I was a big Cal defender for a long time on here. How anyone can continue to defend this I have no clue. It’s a mess I can barely watch the games anymore. He can fix it I guess. I just don’t see any willingness or, quite honestly, an ability to do so with this group. Chances are he’s here next year we will see if he can still win with elite talent. I won’t hold my breath.

I haven’t watched for a long time but back then it was painfully obvious they paid little attention to college basketball because every time they had to talk about it they exposed themselves as not being very well versed in that area.

It’s been like 16 years though so maybe they’ve learned a thing or two but it doesn’t sound like it.

I haven’t watched PTI since Wilbon called us all racists for wanting to move on from Tubby.
Same. Surprised he didn’t find a way to work it into this situation, somehow. Guy is one of the biggest, race-baiting racists in sports “journalism/broadcasting”. He’s a total pos human being & his opinion isn’t worth a squirt of piss.

Wilbon claims Cal can setup shop anywhere and have a tournament team 1st year and maybe win it in the 2nd year. Claims he should go to mid court and give us 2 birds.

Cal isn't going to make the tournament this year at a program he has been established at now for 14 fricking years using the players he has recruited and developed himself! He had the worst season in UK history the season before last. And last season he **** the bed in the 1st freaking round of the tournament with a team many thought could cut down the nets.

The idea that Cal could somehow walk into a totally new program and be competitive in year one and challenge for a title in year two is laughable. He can't even do that any longer at college basketball's most historically significant program that he's guided for well over a decade.

The Cal of 2023 is merely a shell of the Cal of 2009. And I would argue he was less than a great X's and O's coach then, but he was at least still motivated and hungry in those days.

Honestly the same for me. I used to enjoy the show but it’s been years. There were really only a handful of topics where they really appeared to have knowledge tho even back then. They made it enjoyable with their banter which was their real talent that made the show successful. Sports gurus they are not, especially college basketball as you said.

That’s great. How about Cal try to make the tournament with his current team?

….and also we don’t care about tournament teams, we expect final four teams.

I hope so brother. IMO, Only way he’s leaving is if Texas offers and I just can’t see it. Otherwise, he stays at least another year to collect his “ambassadorship”.
I think he is gone no matter what. It's only going to get worse with each loss. Rupp will be a morgue by February.
They will work out some type of deal to part ways. UK won't be paying the whole buyout. It will be a mutual agreement.
I'd guess Cal doesn't coach at all next year. Maybe he goes to Texas. Either way he will be gone. Writing is on the wall.

Been watching a lot more Fox Sports talk shows for mid day and late afternoon.. Cowherd, Nick and Brousard, Joy Taylor, Emmanuel Acho.. Now, they aren't perfect or anything.. but they aren't ESPN shills. If this story gets bigger, I'll be tuning into THOSE shows to hear the thoughts of the sports media.

I’ve said this for awhile. I’m more convinced each day. Buyouts be damned. That *** can’t handle the amount of heat coming.

Heard that, what an idiot.

If Cal cannot do it here not sure why he could do it somewhere else.

I’ll say this, sometimes guys just need a change of scenery to recharge. Rick Barnes was really underwhelming at Texas his last several seasons there and now he’s turned tennessee into a perennial top 10 team. Still can’t win **** in the tournament but he’s doing better than he did at texas.

That said, Cal ain’t winning **** anywhere. He is stuck in his ways and his ways aren’t getting it done anymore. He may do better than he’s done here these last few seasons, which isn’t saying much, but he’s still not a threat. His run at the top of college basketball is over and has been for a long time now.
