You return the national player of the year. You return your PG who led the SEC in assists last season (not a wheeler guy myself but that’s the numbers). You bring in multiple McDonald’s all Americans including a projected lottery pick in Cason Wallace. Hit the transfer portal for shooters. Jacob Toppin was billed all summer as a breakout superstar in the making.

It’s insane that we are sitting in a position where those can be the FACTS, and in January we’re sitting here wondering if we could miss the tournament.

But sure, everything is fine.

I watch it every day. Good show. They are talking as a national perspective and from that view they are correct. From the outside UK fan complaining about Cal appears absurd.

I like their show. No one agrees with them on everything. No one disagrees with them on everything. Wilbon does seem to bring race into too many things. But Wilbon is a black man, I'm not. I've never heard another black man say Wilbon brings race up too much.

People with different opinions are not wrong. They just see things differently. This board, and most boards, tend to foster mob mentality. Everyone is not on board with that though.

No. It doesn't. There are plenty of college basketball writers and people that truly follow the sport (not UK fans) that are crushing Cal right now and he absolutely deserves it.

These two guys don't really follow college basketball. They speak for no one in this case.

Wilbon claims Cal can setup shop anywhere and have a tournament team 1st year and maybe win it in the 2nd year. Claims he should go to mid court and give us 2 birds.
Then why don't he do that here? I mean when your talking points to defend Cal is that he won a title 10 years ago and he puts more kids in the NBA than anyone you are clueless and reaching for any justification that we are the bad guys and Cal has no responsibility for the terrible product on the floor the last 3-4 years.

Calipari has been on their show many times

They have a relationship with Cal

That's all you need to know about their perspective on the matter

and on the topic of perspective - it was the LEAD story on PTI. If there wasn't some serious smoke to it, it would been buried at the end or not even mentioned at all. For it to be the lead story, UK as a program had to do something stunning at the start of the NFL playoffs.

Haha Wilbon, I suggest people research all the horrid takes he has had over the decades. Dude is a joke on sports opinions. Another talking head to generate “news” is all he does.
Wilbon and Kornholer have no business trying to preach to anyone about anything. Neither of them ever have any idea what they're talking about. They only have a surface understanding of a topic, at best, and go on a rant. Those two are a big part of what's wrong with sports journalism, today.

Yes it does. I travel extensively. And usually wear something UK. If you even mention to someone outside the circle that some fans are unhappy Cal they look at you like you're crazy.

There's a whole world out there. Check it out sometime.

It’s what is wrong with journalism period now. Most are either activists masquerading as journalists or people who say what they are told to because all the networks are owned by like 5 people. It’s very telling in all those news clips from like 50 affiliate stations in different cities and states and they say the exact stuff word for word every show. That’s not news, that’s prepared and targeted information to make people think what they want. Controlling a narrative.

Ok mr. cosmopolitan. Just because you or people you run into don't know Kentucky basketball doesn't make you correct if there's a lot of you.

I don't know what to tell you, but I'm not going to get into a "who travels more" argument here lol. I'm literally traveling for work right now and spend most of my time traveling. Also, I don't live in Kentucky. So by nature I am always *traveling* outside of Kentucky.

Everyone I talk to about Kentucky basketball (if it even gets brought up anymore) can't believe how bad Kentucky basketball is these days. I've heard a whole lot of "man, ya'll used to be really good. What the hell is going on there?". It's pretty much all I hear if it gets brought up. Not sure who you're talking to, but it ain't the same people I talk to.

I'm with you. I live out of state, and even people that don't follow sports know how bad we suck. These are the same types that genuinely don't know we have a football team
