NICE!!!!! Man, as much as I'm enjoying this, I would have LOVED for the ref to call stalling in sudden victory against Ferrari, just to see the reaction of the Iowa fans (even though it would have been the right call).

Awesome. Ferrari did NOTHING all match.
Awesome. Ferrari did NOTHING all match.
Rocco will move up to #1 or #2 now. Will be great for Seeding
wow, that was a battle, especially with Ferrari doing so little.
Nice job, Rocco Welsh!
Nice job, Rocco Welsh!
Wrestled the entire match from one knee and then act like Rocco’s stalling the last 20 seconds.
WELSH !!!!!!!
So glad to see Rocco win against that sad "wrestling" by Ferrari. On the bright side......I won't need a sleeping pill tonight

I am never going to watch those two wrestle each other again. Just about fell asleep
I don’t care if Ferrari ends up a 4xer, so glad that dude isn’t wrestling for PSU! Can’t stand watching him! GO ROCCO!!!
Way to go Rocco!
And screw you Flo for ranking a RFR ahead of an undefeated returning finalist

I'll also add, the idiot announcers praising AF are a complete joke. The NCAA needs to ban this nonsense.
Welsh gets it done.
Hard to understand why Ferrari chooses to wrestle half the match on one knee.

Worked out, but why didn’t Rocco go neutral? If he was ridden out, we lose.
Ferrari is going to be the first wrestler ever to give up zero career takedowns and still end up a 0x champ.
What makes me mad about Ferrari is he is talented enough to wrestle a different style and dominate people. Kid is quick as a cat and has great shots when he decides to go. It’s a waste that he wrestles the way he does
Cause he had confidence he would get out which he did. He got rode for 8 seconds not even close to losing that ride out.
197- #1 Josh Barr vs. Brody Sampson
Period 1:
Circling & hand fighting. Barr shoots, but Sampson fights him off. Barr keeps coming with an underhook, but Sampson fights out of it. Barr throws in an underhook again, but Sampson fights out of it again. Sampson shoots a weak double & Barr easily fights out of it. Barr presses forward & works behind for the TD, 3-0. Barr rides Sampson out of bounds, restart. Sampson is still down. Barr breaks down Sampson. Sampson works back to his base, then Barr lets him go, 3-1. Sampson tries an underhook, but can't do anything with it. Barr drops to a single, then works behind for the TD, 6-1. Barr gets Sampson bellied out. Barr rides out the period. 6-1 Barr, +1:07 RT
Period 2:
Barr takes down & quickly gets the escape, 7-1. Collar ties & hand fighting. Barr presses forward. Sampson tries a throw, but Barr comes out on top & gets the TD, 10-1. Barr locks up an assassin & gets the FALL!!!
Josh Barr FALL Brody Sampson (3:42)
Team Score
PSU: 29
Iowa: 3

Yeah mcnelley is going to figure that out.
i think he would have gone neutral if he didn’t have the stall call against him.
It’s genuinely sad that he’s convinced himself he needs to wrestle like that and coaching malpractice that Brands hasn’t told him otherwise.
And ferrari had a stall, so you’ve got a chance to get a 5 second count stall point if things get testy.
You heard the ref tell Welsh he had 30 seconds of riding time. Welsh should have taken neutral.
Exactly. And because of the escape, he had another stall call to give.
Finally, some aggression from the Iowa wrestler and he gets pinned.
You take the one you/your coaches have the most confidence in. Ferrari is good on his feet, when he decides to shoot. So I guess the coaches were more confident in Welsh's ability to get the esc. And if not, it was just a regular season match to get some work on bottom against a good wrestler.
Never. We don't take neutral unless dominating. He got out because Cael and Rocco have faith.
Loved the replay of Rocco returning the Ferrari stare down post-victory. The pre-match psych out stare down was something a lot of guys did in high school. It's rare at the college level.
