I could see 20 total touches but no way he gets 30 carries.
He is going to get 80% of the rushes (Workhorse), his back up is a Freshman. Last year there were a total of 448 carries, and Johnson had 117.
So lets math this up for you so it makes sense that he could have 30 carries
448 Carries Total
117 Carries for EJ - 26% of the Carries
80% of the carries - 358 Carries
358 divided by 13 - 27.5 Carries per game
It is not far fetched to think he could and most likely will get 25 carries per game. We are no longer by committee he is going to get 300+ carries this year and the freshman will get 60 - 80
When Dana Holgorsen was head coach at West Virginia, his teams typically ran about 30 to 40 rushing attempts per game. For example, in his years from 2011 to 2018, his West Virginia offenses averaged between approximately 26 to 40 rushing attempts per game, with variations depending on the season and overall offensive scheme execution. The rushing yards per game during those years often ranged from about 120 to over 220 yards, indicating a solid rushing component with moderate to high running play volumes per game
