Posted Johnson over 75 yards a few days ago....but Key over 53 sounds better today. To me anyway.

I agree but first game is always a bit of a wild card. I think we will be able to take advantage of their db's and I would hope Key is more consistent early than our transfers last season.
I did hear that Cincy typically plays zone vs man coverage and DR shredded zone coverage last year. Maybe they switch it up and we see if our boys can get seperation.

I’m not sold on EJ- 75+. Their D-Line and Linebackers shut down Skattebo last year and the key pieces are back. Their secondary is basically almost NIL guys and first game with that many new guys could be tuff. DR should be able to carve them up. No reason to get cute and try to flex, hit King Hippo in the stomach don’t try head shots

If Rhule tries to run on them, I’m affraid the game will be much closer then it should. And I sort of expect that from the last two years of watching him screw things up. I know, I know. He’s the off season champ. He does the two finger thing. Time to stop being cute. The game don’t lie.

One more thing about Johnson 75+... Our OLine is the deepest it has been in 15 years. Especially on the inside Rocco, Evans and Lutovsky are all possible mentions for All B1G.

Why are our WR overs so low? Doesn't make sense...to me.
Because we are so inconsistent and no one trusts our offense. We seem like we are the worst team in the country at consistently sustaining drives, which leads to yards. Couple that with basically only Barney returning in a main receiving role, and everyone is hesitant.

Dylan went over this number 3x last year
EJ went over this number just once last year

I wouldn't take the passing yards but kind of a quirky season last year with the mid-season change and some muck it up games once Holgerson was in place. I like the over on 1.5 td passes way better.

And EJ was part of a 3 man trio and was the 3rd leg for most of the year. So that is irrelevant information. Johnson is a clear #1 workhorse for this game at a minimum

yea. hence the "FWIW".

as for your expectation that EJ sees "nearly 30 carries" tonight - he's never had as many as 20 in a game, and has only taken 17+ twice in his career.

Because as fans we've been sucked into the hype, but in reality, this is how it is.

Doesnt make sense because in order for DR to hit his passing over, our WR's are going to have to catch a lot of passes...how does our #1 WR have such a low over if DR's is so high? Can you get one without the other? Seems unlikely.

I suppose if say 8 different guys catch at least one pass.

But, it seems like an odd prop to me!

one of several reasons I lean under on DR's passing total

I doubt and hope like he'll he doesn't get near 30 carries. He'll that's too many touches by itself. Let alone his 2-3 passes he may catch. If they love our RBs like they say they do. Emmitt will be somewhere around 17-19 carries and maybe 2- 3 catches. I don't wanna see a game when he has more than 25 touches. Imo he's not THAT kinda back. In fact if I'm being honest 25 is on the high end.

Let me see about 15-17 good carries for Emmitt. About 10 or so for Mekhi, about 4 for or so from Mozee and 2-3 from Barney. That's around 3 carries. I'm guessing we see 25-30 passes as well. Is 60 plays enough??

I could see 20 total touches but no way he gets 30 carries.
He is going to get 80% of the rushes (Workhorse), his back up is a Freshman. Last year there were a total of 448 carries, and Johnson had 117.

So lets math this up for you so it makes sense that he could have 30 carries

448 Carries Total
117 Carries for EJ - 26% of the Carries
80% of the carries - 358 Carries
358 divided by 13 - 27.5 Carries per game

It is not far fetched to think he could and most likely will get 25 carries per game. We are no longer by committee he is going to get 300+ carries this year and the freshman will get 60 - 80

When Dana Holgorsen was head coach at West Virginia, his teams typically ran about 30 to 40 rushing attempts per game. For example, in his years from 2011 to 2018, his West Virginia offenses averaged between approximately 26 to 40 rushing attempts per game, with variations depending on the season and overall offensive scheme execution. The rushing yards per game during those years often ranged from about 120 to over 220 yards, indicating a solid rushing component with moderate to high running play volumes per game
