It would be downright criminal if Kansas doesn’t start to attempt to run the ball more with Pooka and Dom Williams in Lawrence. Too much talent that will likely be wasted under David Beaty and whatever he wants to call that thing he tries to run as an offense.

Not sure how the karate kick play was allowed to stand. Maybe the refs were so astonished by what they saw that they forgot to throw a flag. Needless to say, you can't jump up in the air and kick someone in the chest during a game.

yes but then he will have lied to all his WR recruits who he told would be showcased in his Air Raid offense.
thats the problem. when you commit something to kids but then can't commit to it.
kansas doesn't have an identity because they won't stick with one. and their use of salesmanship instead of honesty attracts kids initially but backfires in the long run

The thing is that offense was an atrocity because KU couldn’t run the ball. I think what Barton is saying is that Kansas best pieces are at RB. Sims is a fine WR and I think Tabor is going to be a real weapon as well, but Kansas is not going to improve offensively until the OL shapes up. Couldn’t execute a basic bubble screen because the quarterback was about to get killed.

It was quick throw, throw, throw, punt. There wasn’t much imagination and the offense put the defense in a horrible position. I don’t know how many times Kansas got down by three scores by end of the first-quarter. Running game became basically nonexistent.

The best games Kansas had in conference were versus West Virginia and Kansas State. Those contests were Kansas best rushing games as well. I don’t think that was a coincidence. That team needs balance more than about any team I know.

there were moments KU looked pretty good this year and others they looked horrible. they are going to win a few games next year and then this group of players is going to begin graduating at an alarming rate. i actually think some of their current players will be missed in the future

Beaty is in win now mode. There is no 2019 if he can’t manufacture sufficient amount of wins and competitive progress in 2018. Thus he signed 9 Juco’s this early period. That’s already going to make a bad scholarship situation even worse here in a couple seasons. There will be a large graduating class after next season.

Armstrong will go pro after this season and Wise could do the same. That’s just early losses off the defense. Rest of the roster should be pretty much intact and with the influx of junior college midyear talent there’s a fighting chance for next season but whatever Kansas was trying to run offensively the last two seasons was an atrocity.

How many stars does he have? Some posters are going to have melt downs if Nebraska keeps signing 3 star kids.

Seems like a lot of these guys are really consumed by how many starts does a player have behind him. Can someone tell us how many stars did Baker Mayfield had? Or Alex Smith, Carson Wentz? I think Honas being an All american at his position should be at least awarded 4 stars. But he plays like he is 6 stars. Yet, he is only a 3 stars. Go figure. Coaches look for players who would fit into their system regardless of the star ranking. Case in point, look at he distribution of star ranking for the first round NFL draft each year. There are almost as many 2 and 3 stars as there were 4 and 5 stars. Star ranking is only for the star gazers.

These threads always turn into reciting exceptions to the rule rather than the rule. Stars matter.

Only about 10-20% of all recruits are rated as a 4 or 5 star. 80-90% are 2 or 3 star. Of course more 2-3 stars numerically are going to be drafted.

If any coach ... including Frost ... could hand pick any recruiting class they desired the overwhelming majority of the recruits - almost all of them - would be 4 and 5 stars.
