The thing is that offense was an atrocity because KU couldn’t run the ball. I think what Barton is saying is that Kansas best pieces are at RB. Sims is a fine WR and I think Tabor is going to be a real weapon as well, but Kansas is not going to improve offensively until the OL shapes up. Couldn’t execute a basic bubble screen because the quarterback was about to get killed.
It was quick throw, throw, throw, punt. There wasn’t much imagination and the offense put the defense in a horrible position. I don’t know how many times Kansas got down by three scores by end of the first-quarter. Running game became basically nonexistent.
The best games Kansas had in conference were versus West Virginia and Kansas State. Those contests were Kansas best rushing games as well. I don’t think that was a coincidence. That team needs balance more than about any team I know.
