The polar bear is STRONG, a real handful for an OL to deal with.
It was in the second half I saw him wrestle an olineman and overpower him down to his knees. Absolute brutal display of strength.

Best nose we've had yet. Should be 1st or 2nd team B1G all American by seasons end

Gaining leverage is a natural outgrowth of wrestling. He wrestled at an elite level in HS and it shows. I'd venture to say that while strength AND leverage are working for him, he gets more production out of superior leverage at the point of attack with Olinemen. The guy just demands double blocks.

He's gotta be no more than second string so far.

At least one of his sacks was successful while being held. Probably more times than that, refs were letting the boys play physical in that game.

I predicted this when he committed to NU. It’s taken a little longer than I thought it would. Very good NT. He’s eating double teams.
I think he credited the S@C staff for his improvement this year. Slimmed down. Better movement and in great shape. Bad *** Polar Bear!!

Got a kick out of that one for Hutmacher.

Is that really his nickname now?

I was really down on that kid until this year. NEVER thought he would be an even average DL. He has exceeded every expectation. Glad I was so wrong about him. That dude has balled out all year and deserves his flowers right now. Love how he's playing.

BTW our strength and conditioning staff in one year has made a HUGE difference. Especially our defensive guys. Look at our edge guys. All those guys look so much better physically. They look quicker and stronger. Nash and Robinson have reshaped bodies and are much more explosive. I can't say enough about those guys. LBs as well . Look at Heinrich compared to before. Sticks out like a sore thumb.

Those guys before in charge of S and C were JV compared to these guys.

It would be hard to run our defensive scheme without him. Him clogging up the middle leaves so many others to rush freely at the QB.

I was 100% he would never do anything and as usual I was wrong again.

I hope he comes back for another year because he is perfect for the 3-3-5

He showed signs of being able to dominate opponents last year. Just wasn't always consistent, likely due to stamina issues. He's much more consistent this year in imposing a will.

. I would say no. I’m a big fan but I’m not sure he’s next level quick enough.
Not sure about how he projects to the NFL at the end of this season. For a really good Nebraska ‘D’ however - through 7 games, he’d be my MVP and the player on D we can least stand to lose to injury.

I was sure when he signed we would see this but then began to doubt him last year from a quickness standpoint. He looks much better this year. I still don’t know if he’s got that first twitch quickness he needs for the NFL. They’ll be better judges than me.

I don't think he's an NFL guy and honestly I don't care lol. He's balling for us is my main concern. His position FB flexibility will be minimal at the next level. He's a NG in 3-4 or nothing. I always thought he would be a better OG than he would in defense tbh. But pot roast and our strength staff has worked wonders with him. He was always strong as an ox but his mobility, quickness and flexibility is all due to this new staff.

Maybe not an NFL player and I'm not sure it matters, Dude is invaluable to this defense.

Not quite that simple for me. He probably has the best NFL measurables on the team. Maybe not the 40 but being a wrestler I'm guessing he'll test out really well at the combine. He's also putting dominant tape out there. Fleck talked about how they abandoned running because they couldn't move him. Now he's racking up sacks.

We need a few more walruses on the OL.

He's absolutely NFL talent. I forget the name of the nose that we had drafted in like the 7th round, but polar bear is proving to be WAY better - by a country mile.

Idk what round or if this year or next, but just this year's film alone I'd say he could maybe be drafted day two
