Gaining leverage is a natural outgrowth of wrestling. He wrestled at an elite level in HS and it shows. I'd venture to say that while strength AND leverage are working for him, he gets more production out of superior leverage at the point of attack with Olinemen. The guy just demands double blocks.
I think it's more to do with us playing teams with bad o-lines.

We need a few more walruses on the OL.

That's one bad *** bear going into that group for a bite to eat!

Not quite that simple for me. He probably has the best NFL measurables on the team. Maybe not the 40 but being a wrestler I'm guessing he'll test out really well at the combine. He's also putting dominant tape out there. Fleck talked about how they abandoned running because they couldn't move him. Now he's racking up sacks.

I definitely don't agree with him having the best NFL measurables on the team. No way that is true. He will however do out of this world on the BP I'm sure. Nash is quicker than he was in the past but NFL likes their DL with certain traits. They like long arms and they like twitchy explosive guys. I don't think Nash is long enough to play as a 3-4 base DE. Nor do I think he is twitchy enough to play inside as a 4-3 DT/DG. Thus I see him as a NG in the 3-4. At that position I think his strength, size, and leverage match up well to suit him. Not being the most twitchy guy isn't bad as a NG.

That said he's putting some good tape out there. He's been a stud for us this year and like I said he's extremely valuable.

Being honest Ty Robinson is probably a better NFL "prospect" than Nash is although Nash has clearly been the better player this year. Ty will probably go 6'5-6'6 310-320 and also run well. Add the long arms and he's the prototype of a 3-4 DE. Pro teams LOVE measurables.

Hutmacher has another year with Pot Roast so he hasn’t yet reached his best play. Great thing about Ty is the other kids doing more than just show up so the coaches have saved good reps for him to this part of the season when NU has faltered to the run. That front rotation is getting stronger every game, with the exception of getting abused by Mich.

I agree, I wouldn't take Nash over any of the guys I used to play pick up football with.

If you want a negative take, sure......
Is it negative to notice that 41% of his tackles came against NIU and NW?

He's not a bum, to the contrary, he's a bright spot on the team, but it's not like he's Suh or even close.

He's a true 3-4 nose tackle, not a 4 front tackle like Suh was

Nobody is a Suh. Nash is a very good B1G NT. Suh was a generational talent.

Haha who is calling him Suh? And different position and scheme. You tried to hard for a fail on this one.
