PJ missed 13 FT's. It's that simple

I think he tried to and got lucky.
Then if you think he had time enough to try to knock it out of bounds it means he had time enough not to — why is this so hard for you to comprehend? Dude he had so much time, and the entire play developed right in front of him, that he could have caught that thing in mid-air.

Look, I’m not talking about a block where you’re struggling to get to the ball and you get lucky to swat it. I’m talking about those blocks (like this one) where you have time to control it. As my friend Herod said, “Sending one out of bounds that your fingers can barely tip is one thing. Volleyball spiking a ball you could clearly possess in a tie game with under a minute to go is something entirely different.

Again, I’m not blaming Washington for the loss. I’ve always hated the intentional block out of bounds and this was a prime example that happened at a critical time. Once you start noticing it, over and over again the team will score on the next play. It’s infuriating.

Dude, you are barking. It was a good play. You are castigating this kid over complete and utter nonsense. Then you do worse and blame the player for the outcome of the next inbound play. Again, that’s just stupid. Come back when you want to discuss basketball and not some pet peeve of yours based on ignorance.

Explicitly stating “I’m not blaming Washington for the loss” is castigating him? Clearly you don’t know the definition of “castigating.”

Once again, since you’re obviously somewhat impaired, all I’m saying is that volleyball spiking a ball — that could possibly be controlled — out of bounds on purpose is idiotic, since it allows the other team to retain possession and potentially score. Surely most rational basketball fans would agree. The only question is whether this was one of those plays. IMHO it was.

It was a bad night. I agree with everything you said.

It's also worth noting that outside of PJ, we shot 15/17 from the FT Line.

It's a shame that we couldn't get anyone else to the line down the stretch. And I don't believe that I was the only one who noticed this as it was happening.
Shai could have been at the line every trip down the floor. For some reason the zebras could only see fouls against the man guarding P.J.

So now we have gone from the refs not calling fouls on our opponents to them somehow calling fouls on just one player because they knew he was struggling at the line.

Wow.

The combo of PJ missing FT's , SGA had a disastrous game , and Hami seemingly not moving well after the ankle roll. Thats what did us in . And WG added next to nothing.

Both of those I highlighted above are COACHING, plain and simple. Cal refuses to run offensive sets to help his players, so when a player is struggling (like SGA tonight), Cal does nothing to help him.
You don’t think we ran designed sets last night? My guess is you don’t know what you were seeing.

It seems some people have an agenda against Cal. I don't understand it.
The only way some people can deal with disappointment is to point fingers. When it comes to sports, the easiest person to blame is the coach. There are posters on this board who reliably blame Cal anytime we lose. It’s never “well, close game, other team played well and just made more plays.” Nope. Someone is to blame. And it’s the coach. Even on a night when you lose by 3 and one kid is 8 for 20 from the line.

No we have gone from hand checking being a “point of emphasis” to being ignored completely.

P. J. played his *** off. It's unfortunate that he couldn't make more free throws, but that's not the reason we lost.

We let Kansas St play their tempo and style. Why were we continually walking the ball up the floor?

Why didn't we press and force the pace? Head scratching strategy in my opinion.

State got very physical with Shai, and he's definitely not ready physically to handle that yet.
SGA has been awesome, but he was atrocious against KState.

Especially on that last offensive rebound we gave up. Having JV in there, they probably don't get that offensive board.

Exactly, and to all the guys who said we don’t need JV after the SEC tourney I laughed at bc they don’t know much about basketball.

JV is a rebounding machine, hustles and is a great passer.

I have a pretty good feeling he would have rebounded few of PJ’s free throw bricks or at least kept a few in play with tip to another player which would have changed the game.

Not sure what the deal is with his injury. You think he could have played after sitting two weeks.

He would have made a huge difference in that game with his board work and hustle and guarding Sneed.

I don’t think I’ve ever seen one player miss 13 FTs in a single game. PJ hustled and kept us in the game tonight, but killed us at the line.
Guess you never saw Wilt or Shaw... guess they both probably did at one time let another.
