Do you think he “removed the ball from play” on purpose?Good block... 2 was very well positioned for a follow-up three had he botched it. He removed the ball from play.

Then if you think he had time enough to try to knock it out of bounds it means he had time enough not to — why is this so hard for you to comprehend? Dude he had so much time, and the entire play developed right in front of him, that he could have caught that thing in mid-air.I think he tried to and got lucky.

Look, I’m not talking about a block where you’re struggling to get to the ball and you get lucky to swat it. I’m talking about those blocks (like this one) where you have time to control it. As my friend Herod said, “Sending one out of bounds that your fingers can barely tip is one thing. Volleyball spiking a ball you could clearly possess in a tie game with under a minute to go is something entirely different.”
Again, I’m not blaming Washington for the loss. I’ve always hated the intentional block out of bounds and this was a prime example that happened at a critical time. Once you start noticing it, over and over again the team will score on the next play. It’s infuriating.
Shai could have been at the line every trip down the floor. For some reason the zebras could only see fouls against the man guarding P.J.It was a bad night. I agree with everything you said.
It's also worth noting that outside of PJ, we shot 15/17 from the FT Line.
It's a shame that we couldn't get anyone else to the line down the stretch. And I don't believe that I was the only one who noticed this as it was happening.
Dunno about everybody else, but I got sidetracked trying to talk sense into kybassomatic. Why has nobody corrected the OP. He missed 12 not 13.
You don’t think we ran designed sets last night? My guess is you don’t know what you were seeing. Both of those I highlighted above are COACHING, plain and simple. Cal refuses to run offensive sets to help his players, so when a player is struggling (like SGA tonight), Cal does nothing to help him.
The only way some people can deal with disappointment is to point fingers. When it comes to sports, the easiest person to blame is the coach. There are posters on this board who reliably blame Cal anytime we lose. It’s never “well, close game, other team played well and just made more plays.” Nope. Someone is to blame. And it’s the coach. Even on a night when you lose by 3 and one kid is 8 for 20 from the line.It seems some people have an agenda against Cal. I don't understand it.
No we have gone from hand checking being a “point of emphasis” to being ignored completely. So now we have gone from the refs not calling fouls on our opponents to them somehow calling fouls on just one player because they knew he was struggling at the line.
Wow.
Especially on that last offensive rebound we gave up. Having JV in there, they probably don't get that offensive board.
Guess you never saw Wilt or Shaw... guess they both probably did at one time let another.I don’t think I’ve ever seen one player miss 13 FTs in a single game. PJ hustled and kept us in the game tonight, but killed us at the line.
