There are several on this board who no matter what happens are always criticizind Steve and our staff. I am so glad that he is Our Coach and Thompson, Knight and Karl Hobbs are all working very hard. GO RU.

I've never understood why some people don't love Pike. The guy is the total package.

I love Pike. I’ve been critical of his recruiting. SO WHAT? It’s okay to be critical when and where warranted.
Now…WOW…what an absolutely amazing job landing this kid. He gets ALL the credit in the world for this one and I hope it steamrolls from here TBH!

Pikiell has done a great job. 30 plus years and no tourney. And he is a class act. People are just amazing. And people think recruits are just going to go to Rutgers.

A lot of the people that take extreme views have mental issues. No reason to fan the flames imo. (I know I am pissin in the wind here).
It's honestly mind boggling. He's not above criticism and he's not perfect but this is the guy that gave us the best rubb memories of our lives after the program had fallen into the sewer. He deserves respect at least.

No coach is perfect
The thing that gets me about people who criticize Pike's recruiting is this. He recruited the entire roster of three straight NCAA Tournament caliber teams for a program that hadnt been there in thirty years. How is that bad recruiting?
Pike deserves every penny. Land a couple studs and coach up the rest and this time is a perennial tournament team, with the chance to last a few rounds.
Those people are stone silent at this point. There’s nothing more to say. We got the prize recruit, and just as important, we retained Caleb which should help us avoid a major drop off. The roster may still have some question marks, but the floor on defense now is too high for us to be terrible.

I think Pike is a great coach, but I don't get too caught up in recruiting until players sign (the haters are just waiting on that chance) and especially until we get to see them play, so I don't get too low with modest rated players or too high with highly rated players. Yes, I know highly rated players, on average, will do better, but too many exceptions to that to go ga-ga over them. All that said, this looks like a great get, who will fit Pike's system well and man do we need a shooter.
I hear you and completely agree, but this case seems different as there is a clear family connection to Pike. Risk of a decommit down the road on this one feels very low. I also generally agree with not getting caught up in the ratings but this one is unchartered waters for RU and deserves the excitement. Ranking of 28 nationally borders on 5 star. It’s huge and has to mean this kid has proven himself many times in front of evaluating audiences.
BB commits are much stronger than FB commits as well it seems. Don't see as many BB commits decommit.

It's a great get and I think it'll stick too, but I'll wait to see how he does before doing backflips, although he does look to be really talented, especially shooting. However, I thought Jones was going to be a star here (at least a shooting star on offense), based on his film, so surprises happen.
I did too but Griffiths is rated much higher than Jones was. Also, with the close ties to Pike, it's doubtful that buying in is an issue here

Little misleading as Jones was bumping into the Top 100 before he reclassified by enrolling early due to his play in major tournaments.

I for one congratulated Pike for landing Griffiths and also for retaining Caleb in other threads. I can only speak for myself and nice job Pike and keep it up and make us all proud.
