Wasn’t the defense ranked 2nd in yards and points per game going into the game yesterday? Again, what is wrong with you people? It was a west coast road game that was pouring rain against a really good offense. Is Kirk and staff expected to win every game 56-0?
3-0

TD too sexy

His defense sucks since cooper and cambell went to the pros...
Your posts suck, you don't even spell Campbell's name right. Anybody that says Parker's defenses suck doesn't know WTF they are talking about. They held an explosive offense averaging over 500 yards to 300. Held a team averaging 40+ to 26. Lemon should be in the pros now.

I’m sure we have some really good coaches, but we just need to clean house and start from scratch with a brand new staff. When Kirk is gone (which is already far too late) we don’t need any holdovers keeping any remnants of his brand of football around.
I hate winning 8/9 games a year! Why can't we be Minnesota or Nebraska???

I’m afraid we’ll let Kirk dictate the next staff. Seth Wallace who will continue the legacy of Iowa being a “tough out”

What does beating Minnesota and Nebraska get ya? How about beating ISU and Indiana, or Oregon and USC, or Indiana and Oregon, or ISU and USC? Split those four games--ISU, Indiana, Oregon, USC--and Iowa is in the CFP. Instead, KF finds ways to lose ALL FOUR of them, snatching defeat from the jaws of victory over and over and over and over again.

Some of you guys are so programmed to expect a shut down defense that you've lost perspective. 4th in the country in total and scoring defense not good enough.

Yes, USC burned us in the second half. (for a whopping total of 16 points) They're one of the most explosive offenses in college football. (#2 in yards/game #7 in scoring) Get a stop on one of those drives and we probably win. The D still held them 140 yards and 14 points under their season average. Reading some of the comments you'd think we gave up 40.

Our offense went scoreless in the second half. Just one TD and we win.

But it's the defense's fault.

I still don’t know that dumping Kirk is the answer here; we’re well coached but lacking an explosive WR and a more capable QB
Our NIL funds are lame vs others including IU.
if that doesn’t change any coach will be limited in getting the players you all say we need.
wake up; our fan base is cheap and we don’t the big donors others have.

The defense
The refs
The announcers

it’s always everyone but the offense and/or Kirk

amazing how no one has picked up on this conspiracy theory of the refs always against Iowa !!!??!

The offense plays a decent (not outstanding, just decent) second half and we win. Sound familiar?

There’s not another DC in college football who can get this level of defense out of the talent on that side of the ball. It’s maybe Phil’s best year as a coordinator. Iowa doesn’t have a guy who is a slam dunk nfl player. Maybe Lutmer in a year or two. The LBers wouldn’t start on any other power 4 team. Probably the same for CBs too…just not enough talent. DL is underperforming. Is Hurkett playing? Last year he was making all sorts of plays, but this year he’s rarely getting his name mentioned.

there is going to be a major drop off when Phil decides to end his career. Be prepared. Turning 2 ⭐️ talent into a top 5-10 defense isn’t common. It’s not happening all over the country

The difference between 10-0 and 6-4 is no elite threats on the outside to make the defense double cover the outside and open up the run game, USC has that and it stretched the Iowa defense .The Offense going in fetal position and some paid off refs were the difference in that game , not the Defense . Not to mention Iowa's WR not knowing how to hand catch a low ball and letting the ball get into his body for a cradle catch and it bouncing off of Him like a Patrick Roy save for a turnover that aided the collapse , It was a good throw low and away from the defender too . WRs are still the biggest issue on this roster , again . Iowa's Defense gave up 26 , 20 , 18 , 16 in the 4 losses . It is not on Phil especially when His LB room is shite . This might be Phil's best job in recent years with the lack of top end talent He has on the field .

Must. Blame. Receivers. For. Crap. Throws.

It isn't actually, explicitly, "on Phil" that one of his defensive units is crap this year?

Defense isn’t as strong as years past but it’s more than enough to win games with an offense that can pick up points when needed

WR Lemon is crazy good. Our D is probably squeezing about as much as possible from its talent. It is possible to play well, as the D did, and still lose. Anybody paying attention to KF's tenure knows as the defensive front seven goes, so goes the results (except for maybe the Brad Banks year). We don't have the same horsepower on D we've had some other years.

I’ll agree on a few things here but that pass to Gill was a second late and nowhere near catchable, especially from a guy in his 5th year. The replay showed him scrambling and Gill standing open for at least a second. If he hits him in the chest (and on time for once) it’s a catch and a first down. Bad passes from our QB are not drops. They’re ****** passes.

Bad pass LOL it was the only throw He had to make that completion as He was breaking contain , that throw was low and away from the defender and got to the WR who should have made the catch if He uses His hands and doesnt let the ball get into His body .

It looked like a half-roll snag concept and it took MG11 too long to get thru his reads. Looks like his first read was the TE flat route, then Howard on the corner, then finally down to Gill on the snag. Definitely late, but also definitely catchable, at least in terms of ball placement. Knee just got in the way...Gill didnt help by drifting a bit and there is no guarantee even if he goes down differently to make the catch that the defender doesnt make a play on the pass. But the placement was where it needed to be in that spot (low and away from defender given late nature of the throw)...we just had some bad luck with the Gill deflection. These are the types of plays we need MG11 to make though...processing quickly, finding the right receiver, and then making the throw. Too many times this year he has missed the easy ones, the makeables, the layups when executing that last step.

It takes a special kind of idiot to think that Phil Parker is to blame for this team's losses.
I never said solely blame it on Phil maybe get better at reading comprehension. The Defense has gotten worse the last 2 years, while the offense has gotten better (still not good). We are a PI call in the PSU game from being 5-5. We were very spoiled for a long time with our D doing the dirty work and closing out and winning games. The last 2 years they have gave up more game winning drives than they did the previous decade...

Has the defense gotten worse? I could have sworn we were 4th in the country in defense when they showed the stat during the game. Which also showed USC being 2nd in offense. I’d say 4th in the entire country is pretty good normally. But you can certainly disagree.

Imagine thinking this year's defense is better than last year's defense. What a ridiculous poster.
