Btw despite all the hoopla surrounding Tiger Woods, Brooks Koepka never flinched and won his 2nd major of the year and 3rd of the last 7 majors played.

Tiger gave it a shot. The one that sat on the edge of the cup was so close I believe if someone jumped up and down it would have fell in and then there was that just rimmed out. He was right there. OFC

The announcers and the media sound so ridiculous over Tiger Woods it makes me want to throw up.
I admit he has been huge for the game of golf, but a lot of the attention he receives is nauseating. I don't understand how someone with his background and how he used to be, is worshipped like he is. I expected the announcers to cream in their pants.

These fans are just as dumb. Say what you will, I just can't pull for him.

Despise him and terrible role model for what's truly a "gentlemen's game."

To me, that was probably the most entertaining tournament of the year. I understand the distaste for Tiger's personal life, but golf is more entertaining when he is in the hunt.

Some of the graphics/ratings points I've seen from those few hours Sunday morning at the British Open and now from yesterday pretty much tell you how much Tiger Woods means to golf. Love him or hate him, he's very good for golf.

As for Koepka....a complete class act. He's slowly becoming one of my favorite players on tour. I liked how last night Brandel Chamblee said something like, "I can't see him losing ever again." Obviously, Chamblee was saying that with tongue-in-cheek, but even with Tiger's charge yesterday, I never thought Koepka was going to lose. I think that was Chamblee's point. He's just such a cool customer and playing so well.

Oh yeah, I'm in love with Jena Sims, too.

These past couple of months have been a surprise even for Tiger. I have never been a big Tiger fan but I am pulling for him now because he really appreciates being able to compete again. He is definitely good for the game and these younger players like competing against him. With that said he still may never win another major because these young guns are fearless. It's not like playing against Davis Love and Couples where if he got in their group they folded.

It is very "entertaining" to pull against him, I will admit. Reminds me of pulling against UNC-CHEAT.

His personal transgressions are definitely a good reason to dislike him. But a lot of people actively pulled against him long before his nefarious personal life ever came to light. Do you fall in that category?

I've never been a fan of his. His personal life years ago only summed up what I already felt, that he was a real douche. When you hear the stories about him leaving a dinner gathering without paying, when you watched him in his dominant times cursing and throwing mini tantrums, totally ignoring his fans as he walked by, all these things and no announcer other than Johnny Miller ever being critical of him, yeah it mounts up to where you pull for him to lose more than someone else to win.
No one in their right mind can deny his importance to the game of golf, and the money these guys make now and the way golf has became a sport where a guy athletic and strong wants to play, can all tie back into Tiger.

I can appreciate his game, and he does appear to be a little humble now. Life has a way of doing that, and his path to humbleness started with an 8 iron years ago.

I was pulling for Tiger...I like to watch greatness...to many are quick to try and tear it apart....People want the Yankees to lose....Duke to lose...Tiger to fail...etc....name something in sports that has built themselves up to some sort of greatness and once they get there people want it to fail....I like to see it....you only get to witness it a few times in your life...

I think everyone can agree Tiger messed up off the course....on the course however he is dynamic and brings eyes to the sport....I’m a huge huge golf fan....My dad played with Arnold Palmer growing up....I’ve always been engaged....and even I can admit the last two majors are the most engaged I’ve been with Tiger in contention more so than I have been in years.....there is something polarizing about him that you just have to watch....

I think they’re some new sheriffs in town! Which one will elevate to Tigers past level, so we can end this “entertaing” crap he brings to the game, is the question on my mind! Justin? Rory? Brooks? Spieth? Happy Gilmore? I’m probably forgetting a few. :)

One of my favorite golfers is John Daly. I really don’t know why. I guess it’s his I don’t care attitude. His confidence wearing the pants. I don’t care what people think. Not afraid to show his frustration. I show how I feel, and not put on this fake please people personality or something. He just seems (real) to me. He had some drinking problems like me. I guess he kinda reminds me of me, I don’t know. Little crazy. He’s different. I like it. A lot of golfers are just fake. Like I see Tiger when I listen to him. He just sounds fake to me, especially given all his off the course crap. Daly is who he is, and may not be the best person in the world, but he’s (real)

Quick John Daly story. About 18 to 20 years ago, right when I was getting my start in the radio business, I interned for one of the 'big' sports stations in Minneapolis. Tom Lehman hosted a celebrity golf tournament every year raising money for cancer.

Anyway, one of our 'on-air' personalities (a former NFL player) was asked to caddy for John Daly. It got me inside the ropes to follow along and get pictures. On the range, Daly opened a pack of Marlboro Red's and started sucking heaters. By like the 12th hole, he opened another pack. I'm not sure he went more than half a hole without having one lit.

Really nice guy and hit the ball a ton. He also bought us shots in the clubhouse when the round was over.

I loved his line on Feherty's show a while back. He was asked why he quit college. He said "I ran out of electives."

Yes I do, the profanity and temper tantrums on the course preceded the "transgressions" you mention. They only heightend my distaste for him...

Pre-incident Tiger hate seems to me to be an awful lot like Duke hate.

Hmmm....Interesting thought and probably has some merit since both have won in the past. However I think more of the Duke "hate" is based on jealousy than sportsmanship. Oh sure, you can cite Grayson's incidents, but Tiger's bad side has been exposed more consistently in the past I feel.
