I think the left coast gimmicky passing offense stuff is confusing the o-line, they don't know if they are run blocking, pass blocking or what...it's like they want them to look like the blonde chick from abba with her 2 handsup doing a shuffle...meanwhile the defense sends everyone and their mom cause they know martinez can't pass 70% of the time, and turns into a deer in the headlights.Four OL with passing grades of under 30. Both tackles and guards. Coaching??
That may be part of it, but they need to have some aggression and fire in their belly to go out and seek a guy to block even if it wasn't drawn up exactly. I don't see that at all from these guys.I think the left coast gimmicky passing offense stuff is confusing the o-line, they don't know if they are run blocking, pass blocking or what...it's like they want them to look like the blonde chick from abba with her 2 handsup doing a shuffle...meanwhile the defense sends everyone and their mom cause they know martinez can't pass 70% of the time, and turns into a deer in the headlights.
Our oline coach sucks at both. Hopefully he is soon to be both a former player and former coachIts coaching and player development. Plain and simple.
The problem is the backups still have the same position coach. But maybe they are better because they receive LESS coaching than the startersWeakest unit on this team O line. I read where some think we need better running backs. I like our backs but they never have a hole to run through. A.M. spent most of day running for his life against Buffalo. Why don’t they pull some of these guys and insert others. Frost and Austin tell us how deep they are. Show us, it can’t get much worse

So we need after OL??I think the left coast gimmicky passing offense stuff is confusing the o-line, they don't know if they are run blocking, pass blocking or what...it's like they want them to look like the blonde chick from abba with her 2 handsup doing a shuffle...meanwhile the defense sends everyone and their mom cause they know martinez can't pass 70% of the time, and turns into a deer in the headlights.
Our RBs have shown nothing. Absolutely nothing at all. Stepp is the only guy with any decent tape at this level. I think that's why we're seeing so much Ervin early because the coaches already know the other guys aren't going to give them anything. It's why they ran Wandale into the dirt. If all our RBs transferred out it would be a non-event. I would love to hear from kids on the team if they think Brody Belt is a better RB than the guys we have back there.
And with that said, the OL is not much better. Where is Huskerssalts I can't remember if I made a bet with that guy but he thought Benhart was going to be some all-world player. It's been 3 years and that guy is still softer than play-doh! We have an OL comprised of mamas boys. They just want to eat mom's cookies and pies and cakes and pipeline burritos and they don't want to hurt nobody.
After seeing this I like Ervin just a little bit more.
Agree with your assessment of the RB's. I see no burst . Watch great backs run, they read the bloacking and Burst into the hole. They possess great balance and power. Our RBs have shown nothing. What about when there's no hole to burst into?Agree with your assessment of the RB's. I see no burst . Watch great backs run, they read the bloacking and Burst into the hole. They possess great balance and power.
Ours?
Yeah he has really stepped that part of his game up since Illinois. Even started to find a grove running at the end of the game as well.
He's got a long ways to go, but you can actually see he is getting better, which is a really good thing.Pretty grown up running for a true freshman. He's a complete back IMO. I think he's fairly impressive considering that he still has to be getting used to the speed of real games. He's going to be a good back for us.
Ervin has the wheels to make things happen on the edge and had a couple of good runs in the second half.Pretty grown up running for a true freshman. He's a complete back IMO. He was no good as a player. He was always hurt and he is rubbing off on the oline.H'ell he cant even get 1 Black oline player .If he was white i would start to think he was racist, but he is black and cant even get 1 black olineman..Our oline coach sucks at both. Hopefully he is soon to be both a former player and former coach

The OL was outnumbered 6-5, the guy lined up over the LT appears to be a spy, so the LT moved to help. It only became a problem when Martinez rolls left. Btw the TE on the crossing route, wide freaking open.If you watch the left tackle, Corcoran, seems to leave his gap to try to help out with the center Jurgens getting beat pretty easily, and in doing so, creates a problem for Martinez.
I don't normally watch the Oline very closely, but both those players look like they messed up on this play.
The scheme is to literally mirror the defender... They don't play aggressive and thats what Frost wants. Austin hates it.That may be part of it, but they need to have some aggression and fire in their belly to go out and seek a guy to block even if it wasn't drawn up exactly. I don't believe for a second Austin isn't mostly to blame. He has plenty of input into how aggressively they play. The scheme is to literally mirror the defender... They don't play aggressive and thats what Frost wants. Austin hates it.
I want to hear from some former players on our O-Line style of play. Hoskinson is not afraid to run his mouth. I think we've got some talent on the line, but I am convinced player development and philosophy are severely lacking, and that is 100% on Frost.Yep. That **** fails in the Big Ten. It's the biggest reason why Frost has a losing record to every Big Ten West team.
he left his gap responsibility - so to me, it is a problem. The OL was outnumbered 6-5, the guy lined up over the LT appears to be a spy, so the LT moved to help. It only became a problem when Martinez rolls left. Btw the TE on the crossing route, wide freaking open.
He’s the run game coordinator.I don't believe for a second Austin isn't mostly to blame. He has plenty of input into how aggressively they play.
Yet Austin has worked under Frost for 6 years at two schools. The scheme is to literally mirror the defender... They don't play aggressive and thats what Frost wants. Austin hates it.
There is some truth to this. Great head coaches get the most out of their assistants, while average or bad head coaches get much less out of them. I'd even go as far as to say the head coach has been the main issue here. That said, when assistants aren't cutting it, they need to be replaced. Austin hasn't been cutting it since year 1 and should have been replaced back then.Yet Austin has worked under Frost for 6 years at two schools.
There are many problems and some can be explained by sub-par assistants. But here’s my problem with talking about problems with assistant coaches: the assumption is that if we just had a really good assistant coach instead then all would be well.
But there are many problems that won’t be fixed by changing assistants. Including: horrific game time management, consistently outcoached with halftime adjustments, lack of accountability for mental errors, inability to gameplan for both odd/even fronts with an entire offseason, HC being so focused on offense to not challenge obvious bad calls while on defense, complete and utter disregard for special teams, playing practice players over playmakers, playing favorites in general, clapping excuses, trying to duck 50 year anniversary games. What did I miss?
