We ran into his parents in the lot on the way out. The mom was very sweet but frustrated . They drive here from Connecticut I guess . Good kid nice family needs to move on.

Could just be me but it seems like his play changed a lot from QU to here. I know the jump in conference effects that. Still, he was a driver there and in the past two years, you never saw him drive. Seems like the improvement factor has not been there. I hope the best for him. I would be surprised to see him play much this year.

McConnell is STARTING! And everyone’s minutes, Harper and Geo’s included, are down. Love Caleb. He’s had some foul trouble including getting T’d up. Pike will have the horses out there when needed, I’m sure McConnell will be be a key player.
McConnell is not going to transfer. We have 7 guys playing 20 minutes or more and he is among those seven. Mulcahy is 8th in minutes and could move ahead of Mathis or Young as the season goes on. Carter and Doucoure are our 9th and 10th men. Kiss could get into the rotation if anyone should get sick or injured. All of the guys seem to love being part of our team.
The big question is NOT whether he should play or not.....it is why did he not play at all in a blow out game.

He shouldn’t have been happy in Canada. He was terrible in that game. Hopefully, he was pissed at himself.
No, it definitely doesn't have to be one of those 5. I've said it before, last year with Issa, Pike all but said he wasn't practicing well, not everyone plays, and minutes go to the best guys. He is not injured (full participant at practice), he is not being disciplined, it wasn't beneath starters to play in a blow out game, and he has had a great attitude supporting his teammates, so don't think he would refuse to play. And he isn't entering the portal until he graduates. There simply aren't enough minutes - you yourself were touting the depth of the team - that means less minutes for fringe players. Its because we are talented, not because of something scandalous.
He shouldn't be happy, otherwise he would be accepting his current role. We have depth. He needs to step up or he won't play. Its not an insult, as you stated Pike isn't running a little league team - the best play period, and a few garbage minutes isn't going to tell him anything about Pete he doesn't already know after 3 years.
Well it was prior to the Bonnie game but it really doesn't matter. At that time he was just surprised that he didn't play in the opener or first few games. He did play alot in Spain. We've all been on teams growing up and this happens to be a team with a lot of talent. I'm not at practice so I have no idea how he's performing but he has to be ready. **** happens during the season and when he does get his opportunity he needs to produce. I'm glad he's cheering on his team mates and i'm sure he might leave the program next year if he doesn't get playing time. And if that's what he wants to do, it's also fine. You play the best players who are producing and it's hard to pick a player who would sit out over Pete. But I do think there were some opportunities where we were up by X number of points and you would think at that time it would be good to get him in and keep him fresh. Not sure if there are other reasons we don't know about?

I'm not even talking about when Joey was put in the game. There were definitely other moments where he could have played. Maybe he's not playing the kind of defense that Pikiell expects in practice and he's sending a message for Pete to either work harder on defense and rebounding or not play. Our team defense is as aggressive as I've seen it in a long time. Montez is on the court for that reason and he's a contributor. Just guessing but our defense now turns to offense and it's fast paced.
What do you think Pike could possibly learn about Pete in 2 minutes of garbage time that he doesn't know from 3 years of practice?
Garbage time is when you empty bench and play people who haven’t been in the game.

Well, you didn't answer my question, but again, its number 6 - he has been outplayed in practice, hasn't looked good when given minutes, and has been surpassed on the depth chart.

Not to be a jerk, but you do know when the game is a blow out coaches empty the bench and that gives the opportunity for those who haven't played a chance to play.
I've never seen him play at QU, but the few times he's shot mid-range or driven, he's looked decent. I don't know why we have him defaulted to shooting threes. I think he's athletic enough (from what I've seen) to put the ball on the floor in short bursts and take a shot.

Somebody has to finish out the game when its already been decided, so you put out the guys that would never play in meaningful minutes - Kiss has before and may still be able to work his way into the rotation, and you already had 3 . Either way, for the NJIT, Pike needed to keep Young in so we could bring the ball up. He didn't feel the need A) from a standpoint of needing to evaluate or B) needing him for a specific function on the court.
But he isn't hurt, isn't a bad teammate, and its illogical that Pike would think its beneath him, but not Young, Shaq, Duke, etc.

It was a roll of the dice for him to transfer up. This roster looks completely different than it did when he got here. Thankfully.

Actually I think its closer to 37.937%...I can pull made up stats from my butt too! And I agree with you he is done...pretty much validates exactly what I was saying. There aren't minutes for him, its not that anything negative occurred, he just isn't going to get run so why bother with garbage time?
