Toledo scored 53 points against BYU this year. BYU's defense was ranked 15th in the country allowing 19.4 points per game. They also scored 35 points against Western Michigan which was ranked 16th in the country allowing 19.5 points a game.
Ha, ha, ha. Can we dig up the threads here on Captain Kirk when he was Rutgers' OC? Maybe he's a genius now.
I was thinking the same when I saw his name come up. If one of his buddies/mentors fired him would Ash be open to hiring him?Ha, ha, ha. Can we dig up the threads here on Captain Kirk when he was Rutgers' OC? Maybe he's a genius now.
Funny thing, On The Banks said yesterday Brian Wright was very unlikely because Ash's buddy, Charlie Partidge, fired him at FAU.
We'll see.

Oh so they went from pro style to spread and back to pro style you're saying? Because they switched to spread when Wright came in and then he got fired because they wanted to switch back.FAU wanted to move from a spread to a pro style.
Toledo had a very good year offensively but the MAC was weak this year and it's a single year so never like to read too much into it without a longer track record. Obviously better than being lousy though.
I was taking a look at FAU's and Toledo's offensive rankings prior to Wrights joining as OC.
FAU switched from prostyle to spread.
FAU
year total offense scoring offense
2009 15 60
2010 107 113
2011 120 119
Wright joined as OC switched to spread
2012 100 107
2013 84 79
2014 104 95
2015 84 104
Toledo
2009 9 8
2012 32 44
2013 40 40
2014 15 18
2015 30 31
Wright joined as OC
2016 4 18
So I see some marginal improvement at FAU but not a ton after 4 years, I would've hoped for better given the amount of time. Some marginal improvement in the one year at Toledo as well but hard to judge the consistency based on 1 year. I'd be okay with him but there are other names I like better.

What teams were good then besides WMU? It's part of the reason I think Fleck won this year, over the last handful of years the good coaches of the conference have left to other destinations. I can't say any other school besides WMU was all that good this year. Now admittedly I don't watch a ton of MACtion but I don't think they have been as good as year's past. I'm not even sure outside of WMU how they rank in some of the power rankings you find around. The MAC was weak? Says who? Man people here don't seem to watch the MACtion.
His run is one year at Toledo, I wouldn't call that a run. It's 1 year and they generally have put out solid offenses if you look at the rankings I posted. Need more info. He was at FAU for 4 and there was some marginal improvement but that's about it.That was why. It had nothing to do with his performance. his run with Toledo proved that.
FAU's starting QB got hurt and/or was hobbled in 2015, hurting their production.Toledo had a very good year offensively but the MAC was weak this year and it's a single year so never like to read too much into it without a longer track record. Obviously better than being lousy though.

I'm okay with him just others I'd prefer. Maybe a Lubick although he's light on experience as OC. The fired Ole Miss OC Werner. I'm kind of interested in Matt Limegrover too the PSU OL coach who had been OC at Minnesota/NIU/SIU with Kill. Haven't really looked into his background beyond that though. He could help with our OL problems too.FAU's starting QB got hurt and/or was hobbled in 2015, hurting their production.
Also, may help to look at what happened after he left FAU (from NCAA website)
Total/Scoring offense
2015 81 105
2016 72 82
Keep in mind, just like looking at a "#20" vs. a "#30" ranking of a recruiting class, the numbers may be statistically meaningless or insignificant.
Looking at 2015 vs. 2016
2015 378 ypg/22.5 ppg.
2016 398.3 ypg/26.4 ppg.
Not a huge difference. Plus, FAU went 3-9 before and after Wright left. Is he the Wright guy for RU? Will he get his hair cut at the Wright Cut?

Why start now? Seems the only coaching a QB got was Gary Nova in 2014 when Friedgen was here. Unless you count Spence (was that his name?).One of the things to consider is that unless there are additional changes to the offensive staff, the OC would need to be the QB coach.
this is the Scum ledger throwing a poor choice out to make news & get hits from informed fans who see this as a fall back choice
we all know Kevin Wilson is now a possibility so why name a poor Mac coach who was fired from FAU

Yea that is usually the case in most OC setups. One of the things to consider is that unless there are additional changes to the offensive staff, the OC would need to be the QB coach.

Wilson is a possibility? I never heard we all knew that. I heard his issues at Indiana made him a non starter.
This 'poor' MAC coach put up 35+ on two of the Top 20 rated defenses in the FBS.
