I'm watching this Toledo game. If it's true that Ash wants to run the same offense as last year, this looks an awful lot like it for the most part. Color Me unenthused.

we can argue all we want,but I think Ash and Hobbs know there is alot hanging on this hire.you usually dont get three chances to fix the offense as a HC unless you are winning games with a defense and special teams play.

Ben was at Columbia for only 2 months .
Was hired as OC in December of 2011 and left for Tampa Bay in February of 2012
When McDaniels was made RU's OC I posted he was Columbia's OC and had it pointed out to me by another poster he left that position before the season started.

Pass O - 8th
Run O - 44th
Scoring O - 18th

....19-minutes of a bowl game does not make a season, however, I would like to see them step it up a bit here. App State, btw, 15th in Total D this year so that's a little something to take into account.

Jesus guys you can't pick out a SINGLE GAME to judge **** as such. SDSU has one of the best D's in the nation and was on a mission today. **** happens. My lord com'on now. SMH

What makes you love an East West passing game???????? It was the worst offense in the country statistically at RU. Lol and you ROCKET SCIENTISTS think you can go 7-5 or 8-4 some day in the big ten AT RUTGERS with east west garbage.

I think the fact that Alabama has gone to the RPO shows validity in the approach. Saban knows D and had 5 star guys throughout his D and Texas AM still gave them absolute fits a few times with it.

That said, at some point if damn near everybody is incorporating this stuff there'd be value in being pro set, just as a differentiator. A team like Wisconsin, for example, must love that teams are targeting linebacker hybrids rather than the Levon Kirkland types.

It's becoming glaringly obvious that you don't watch much college football. Then again, IIRC, you absolutely LOVED Kyle Flood.

BTW - 3 of the 4 teams in this year's playoff throw the ball "east-to-west."

Lol we have the worst offense statistically in the USA in yards per game. Second worst in America in points per game. Stick with it. Let the ineptness continue. Facts are facts. If the brilliant schemes of Ash become 7 win seasons, I will concede. At the moment you are defending AT RUTGERS the worst/second worst offense in Anerica. And you hallucinate--thinking you will run it successfully here. Show me and then I will believe LOL.

Kyle Flood was never qualified to be a head coach in this division of college football. But Ash has shown no competency thus far in his coaching. Please don't bring up recruiting. I'm talking on the field coaching here.

If only we had that talent on this team, but we don't. No matter what O style we run right now nothings going to work with this crew. Also Toledo certainly didn't win 9 games this year playing defense or special teams. Guess who won those games? The spread option offense. And BOOM it scores again.

Let me repeat myself:

3 of 4 teams in this year's playoff throw the ball "east-to-west" as half of the NY6 teams (if I recal correctly). Do you know why? Because those passes, with the right talent, do 1 of 2 things:

1) break for huge gains if set up and blocked properly (see: "with the right talent")
2) set up for bigger pass plays downfield that are wide-open

...but I know, you don't want to "hear" about our lack of talent, lol.

So with 3 NFL skill guys you will win 7 games? Flood won 8 with 1.
Pro style is dead. Not only isn't it impossible to recruit nobody runs it in HS anymore. Hell we don't even run it on the youth level. If it wasn't for Big Gronk my son wouldn't know what a TE is.

If you called the game Applewhite did today...with ANY talent in America--you would still lose. His plays calls made Mehringer look reasonably competent.
