I knew Leach ran the air raid, but my goodness, I did not know he doesn't run the ball at all. I've never in my life seen a coach that does not have a running game at all. If I new this was going to be our offence I would have not been for hiring him at all. I don't care what league you play in , you need to run the ball. he is de-grading our school and fans by doing this, he has to see by now even if its just five games. Say what you want , but we are declining down way faster than any other coach we've every had. just look people, it's like he see's no wrong. I want a normal coach that can pass and run like we been for as long as i can remember. What running back will be wanting to come here, I sure would not.I'm sick of seeing this girly scheme of offence...

I think once we get better at throwing the ball, he will run it more...I don’t know how much what he’s doing is about winning games vs building the program for the future right now.

I understand if you want to re-build, but we sure did not need a coach to re-build with what we have, it's just a shame. I'm 61 and never in my life thought i'd see this kind of girly offence and state....

Your problem is a lot like mine. You’re really pissed at Cohen. There was no need to blow up the program and start over from the foundation Mullen laid. But that is what Cohen did. Ready for us to move on from Cohen. Really appreciate what he did for our baseball program but over him as an AD.

With what we have? I mean the team barely won 6 games last year and was pretty much tailor made for that offense. It’s not like we are coming off some great offensive performances or have/had any outstanding performers from last year outside of Kylin Hill.

I’m not sure why the people stuck on “run the football” continue to wallow in despair. As soon as he was hired that was out of the question.

I’m not saying Leach is going to eventually turn it around but some people need to understand the reality of situation and make peace with it. Hopefully it builds toward the future and we all feel stupid for questioning it.

Said Coach/AD has a track record

Coached his teams with more moves than a switch engine.

Can we say controlling?

It wasn't this bad. You can NOT be one dimensional in the SEC. We don't even try to run it at all. It ain't gonna work. Did you happen to watch the USC-ASU game? USC has 5 star talent across the board and their air raid struggled today too. The air raid never was a world beater, and it's outdated as heck now.

The SRC Network post game commentary was brutal but spot on. They all agreed you can not win on SEC if you don’t at least have a credible threat of a run game. SEC defenses or too good to have a one dimensional offense.”

A football corch is or should be essentially a teacher. A teacher takes what the students have and develops them and puts them in a position to succeed

Oh look a bunch of people who are so ingrained to our old brand of piss poor play that they are mad that somebody is trying something different.

Please regale me with our past glories. Tell me how our old way dominated Alabama and LSU for decades. Fascinate me with all of our national championship seasons.

Our call Finebaum about it and act like a loon on Monday.

Here is my opinion, feel free to disagree. Mullen was a great coach but he mailed it in the last couple of years recruiting wise. When he left he didn't leave an assistant capable of continuing what he had accomplished. We are not a destination job, not even for a Group of Five coach who has higher goals. We took a gamble on an assistant in Moorhead and his lackadaisical coaching blew up on our face. We flip 180 degrees with Leach, no practice due to COVID and we now see the results. I don't know if Leach and his offense will be successful but the hand he has to play this year is not the determining factor. Leach May flop here but I'm not blaming him for this year. I'm a State fan and I never want to see this level of suck but if you step back and look at this season objectively, the possibility was there all along.

Tell me how our old way lost to AR, KY, A&M, and almost to Vandy at home for the first time in 40 years. This **** ain't happening. If losing to AL is why we change, the rest of the country better change too.

Well, we did tend to dominate Vanderbilt for the last 20 years or so. We were lucky to beat them today. Good grief man.

You have a strong point here. The team hasn’t looked this bad in a long time but they weren’t even close to being championship level before. Mullen had what, two or three winning SEC seasons in a decade? He averaged seven regular season wins. He showed us how to be mediocre, which is better than bad I guess but I think Cohen is trying, and failing, to get the program above mediocre.

To your first point: We haven’t looked this bad since the Maine game when Croom tried to run the West Coast Offense with players that didn’t fit that mold. Croom wouldn’t make adjustments. Leach won’t make adjustments either. The positive part of it is that has a track record of winning with his system. Croom didn’t. But, it is difficult to watch him continue to run the same dipsy doodle without making any adjustments.

Dipsy Doodle... describes our current offense perfectly. I like it.

Lol The old way lost to those teams too. Don’t act like Mullen took the SEC by storm here. He had 1 winning SEC record. He beat up on the out of conference teams and won his games against teams in down years.

Leach’s “successful” QB’s elsewhere averaged 10.2 yards per completion . Tonight, a true freshman for Leach averaged 6.5 yards per completion. Where do you think those other 4 yards per completion?
1) offensive line that gives the QB and Receivers 1 more second.
2) receivers breaking tackles or making the first guy miss and fighting fir those extra yards or breaking free.

We have neither on this team. We start 3 seniors, a sophomore and a redshirt freshman in the line and obviously we have no one that can beat any of them out on our depth chart. We have receivers who not only don’t break tackles or avoid the tackle they get knocked backwards by the defenders. And we have 23 of those guys that can’t do that. Vandy’s 2 primary receivers and their RB were breaking tackles all night and getting 5-10 YAC. We have a true freshman QB that doesn’t yet know when to throw it away and instead takes 10-15 yard sacks, on first down twice tonight, and 2nd and 3 once tonight. Vandy’s Oline was better then ours tonight. Let that sink in. 0-5 Vandy has a better Oline than State does. Truely sad. And it wasn’t the “3-8” that shut our offense down tonight. It was their 6 men on the LOS. Every time in the first half that they put a 3 man front , they backpedaled their next 4, giving us the 6 yard plays. Then in short yardage, they would go with 3 down, and bring 1 up on the end, and we would shift the running back away from that side and run that forward toss for the first down. After our 3rd series, they adjusted to 3 down and walked 2 Outside LBs up to take that away. In the second half they went to 4 down and still walked the two LBs up on each side to take that toss away. And of course when we didn’t run it, they just brought all 6 and our 5 linemen not only didn’t block 4 or 5 of them, they were so confused, they blocked NONE of them. Sad, Sad, Sad.

Edited to summarize: after watching that crap tonight in person, it is the Jimmies and Joes, not the Xs and Os.

He had 1 winning SEC season, 2014, which was a down year for the league as a whole. (Before you deny it, look at the bowl game scores that season). He went 4-4 four times, 3-5 three times and 2-6 once. He made us relevant, but certainly didn't build the dynasty some of the posters on this board credit him with. He "gave us the blueprint" only if relevance is all you want to build.
