Lakers now have 2 of the best 7 or 8 players so they're fine. Just depends on who they can surround the big two with. Pels did well though I'd probably rather not have ball than have him.
What can the Lakers do with so much $$ invested in just two players? It will be interesting to see. I'm praying for continued organizational dysfunction.
Ball would be a good addition even though i dont like his dad.. he is a distributer and plays outstanding perimeter defense.. id take him in chi town all day

I love that the Lakers are bringing in Davis as one of the best defensive players in the league and are targeting other top defenders as well. I'm a Lebron fan, but he needs to realize that he's the leader and if he isn't giving effort on the defensive end, the team won't either, especially if you have a bunch of young players like they did this year. At least bringing in some good defenders will shore up that side and demonstrate how to play with effort on that side of the ball for the rest of the team.

I think people way overvalue draft picks. If you have the choice between getting a superstar player now, or getting a superstar player 5 years in the future, I'd always choose to go with the superstar player right away. There are a lot of players who enter free agency every year so it's easy enough to fill the rest of your roster out with them. I think a lot of NBA teams overvalue the future and seem to be perpetually rebuilding because of it while the teams that get good trade and free agent deals have been the ones consistently going deep into the playoffs because of it.

Yes, but this is a slam dunk for them. They get Zion, this year's 4th pick, and BI still has a shot at being a star. He's still 21 putting up 19 and 5 game.

LeBron is really getting up there and doesn't have 3-4 years left, so the Lakers were backed into a corner to get him a star now, but did they give up to much? 3 first rounders?? For a guy they could have signed a year from now without having to give up anything? I find it impossible to believe they had to give away 3 first round picks to make this happen, the players themselves I have no problem with though. I guess if they can add one more star, it's worth it, especially with the Warriors wounded for at least a year. Time will tell I guess.

Lebron will still be a great player for at least another 3 or 4 years and he's versatile enough he can be a very good player well into his 40's. I even think we'll see a resurgence in his defensive play when he realizes he's just as valuable on that end.
The chances that one of those first rounders ends up being a top 5 player is very small. So they were forced to give up a transcendent talent who has yet to reach his peak because they are so inept and are situated in such a crappy basketball area and they got a poor mans durant, a guard who can't shoot, and hart who might become an above average player. NBA basketball is about explosive talent, not about compiling good players. The pelicans are going to compile some really good players...and zion is great but will be out of there as soon as he can.

LeBron has a ton of miles on him, he isn't that young anymore, and in 4 years he will be a shadow of his former badass self.
Exactly, you need at least 1 superstar to win a championship, preferably more and the Lakers now have 2 of them. Boston has compiled a bunch of good but not great players and draft picks and it's gotten them nowhere. This was a great trade for the Lakers, and it shouldn't be looked at as so great for the Pelicans because they shouldn't have been forced to trade AD in the first place. If AD was happy in NO, does everybody think this was a great trade? No it would be looked at as the steal of the century for the Lakers and that's exactly what they got.

I'd make the trade if I'm the Lakers to, I just don't think they had to give up as much as they did if AD wanted to go to the Lakers anyway (which we all had the impression he wanted and is how I am approaching this) and if he made that fact known to all prospective teams who were considering trading for him. AD had more power than many gave him credit for. I wonder if there was another team that was going to come close to what the Lakers offered for a one year rental essentially. Lakers got desperate because they've been the clown show for a few months and had to over pay because of their incompetence.
A shadow of himself is still better than 90% of players in the league. And guess what, when Lebron does decline Davis will still be in his prime and they're likely to bring in good players this year and future years in free agency that they can build around. This is a great move for the Lakers and a heck of a lot better than hoping a bunch of young players and draft picks pan out.

He is an absolutely dominant player who has been placed in the most embarrassing and incompetent situation, hence the reason he wants out of that dumpster fire. Again...a team can have 15 good players and not sniff the playoffs because good players will always get dominated by great players.
