This guy could be our 4
Could be our 4 except against SEC and above competition it’s not gonna be too often we’d be safe giving him extended minutes at the four without a body at the 5 that Pope doesn’t even have on the radar. At this point cost-benefit is mostly that you play him at the five situationally with a McBride or something at least when the game is on the line. We’ll do what we have to especially if he’s the last post piece which isn’t smart but wouldn’t be too surprising. But alongside a McBride or dare we hope Momcilovic this guy could really do some damage so I hope we try to grab at least a bit of that.

For anybody curious here, is a really in depth scouting report on him from a little less than a year ago. He did improve his stats quite a bit with more playing time this past year with the caveat that it was in a slightly less prestigious league than he had previously been in, but if he’s going the college route instead of catching on somewhere in the NBA at 22 years old, I’m going to assume he’s still fairly raw.

I think this is a good gamble for us. His physical tools give him a much higher ceiling than any of the remaining domestic options at the 4 spot. I would just caution against expecting him to be a game changer from day 1. He is still considered a work in progress, and the NCAA style game usually takes a little getting used to for guys coming in from Europe.

Kid looks legit but everybody's highlight reel looks amazing. First recruit in a while that I'm excited for.
I wondered about highlight reels too, thought I would check out Mo Ds, wanted to compare how his looked. Not very impressive at all, unless you’re into layups by a 6’7 player. This guy should be an upgrade in all areas.

You people knew literally nothing about this guy an hour ago and now he's getting Nowitski and Bird comparisons. Some of you would convince yourself that just about anyone is a savior. So who else was after this guy?
He’s been all over YOU TUBE for 2 days & several Ky podcasters said -GO GET THIS GUY.
There is information beyond KSR & RUPP RAFTERS.

Looks fine to me. We’ve already got Moreno and Potter. We get someone beefy a la McBride we should be viable. Obviously Stokes and other pieces and system-learning and chemistry will determine whether we’re good but one decent, beefy post piece and we should be viable.

A rim protector finally. Hes not here ti score. Hes here to defend and rebound with some rim protection mixed in. Atleast he looks like a basketball player.
He averaged 0.5 blocks per game in 27 minutes this season. Had decent, not great rebounding numbers (6.7/game). He might be a nice player but I'm afraid our ceiling is going to be "2026 team level talent but the pieces fit better and we don't have multiple games where we totally collapse." We'll have better creators. We may be weak shooting again. I've never been one of the "we're going to start an OVC level roster, we're going to go to the NIT, we're going to lose 15-20 games" doomers but unless we land Stokes or pull off a Miracle with Momsilovic, "pretty good" might be the best to hope for. And pretty good isn't good enough. Pope's got to show he can land ELITE talent, that you need at least one or two of to go from "pretty good" to real contender. And he's got to show he can coach to that level. And he's running out of time.

I’m going to leave this in-depth scouting report here if anyone is interested.

The short version is that his physical abilities have an NBA ceiling, but his feel for the game and decision making are still very much works in progress. Given the dearth of talent still available in high school or the portal to fill our starting 4 spot, I think that gambling on him is probably still the right choice, but he’s honestly a bit of a wild card and not a guaranteed star. Hopefully something clicks and he performs at a high level for us.
