A lot of emphasis on N'Diaye's offense.

What you should really be talking about is his defensive rebounding and defensive versatility. Can guard the 1-5, although he can struggle in the paint with physicality. Had a DRB% of around 20%. He's especially good at using his length and mobility to secure 3pt misses of the opposing team. Something we struggled with last season.

He's as good as a defender as Mo D, possibly better, and he's 6ft 11, the same as Jelavic. This guy's defense and his rebounding, especially the rebounding, are a great upgrade on last year's 4's

He's also a way better offensive player than Dioubate, and Mo D had some solid moments on that end. This guy will be more consistent. Better handles than both those guys as well.

If he plays for us like he did in Italy, we are getting a fantastic player.
Having a plus defender with Moreno is very important. McBride or Rancik would have been rough defensively with MM with so much switching.

I’ll take this guy.. I like his relentless effort to rip the rim off backboard 🤔 He ain’t sceeeerd for damn sure lol
This dude is going to get no less than 10 technicals for talking crap and hanging on the rim. Pope coaching him would be interesting to say the least!

If the 5-in-5 rule gets approved, Ndiaye would only have one year of eligibility if I understand it right. 5 years from when he turned 19, so done at 23. Which, he's 22 now. So basically bringing a senior transfer onto the roster in that case, except it's his first year of college. How that eligibility works is beyond me but I hope it does!
Check your math. He has 2 years.

I might have missed it in this thread, but I’ve seen stuff on X about him having a 2 year deal that includes a buyout if he transfers after year 1. I don’t know if that’s true, but I give props to Pope and staff for that. It’s something every team should move toward. We will treat you like pros and pay you, but you have to buyout of the contract if you want to go somewhere else

I thought that was illegal to do in college. I believe I read that somewhere. Because they’re supposedly not actually employees. They definitely are employed by the school. 😆

Check your math. He has 2 years.
Year 1 - 19
Year 2 - 20
Year 3 - 21
Year 4 - 22 (now)
Year 5 - 23 (next season)

I’ve seen the stuff about him having two years, I just don’t understand how that would work. Is that under the 5-in-5 rule or the current rules? Or maybe he’s still 22 when next season starts and it’s just a matter of what month his birthday is?

19-20=1, 20-21=2 , 21-22=3. 22-23=4, 23-24=5. Looks like he would have 2 years of eligibility.

Out of curiosity anyone know how he compares in ranking and the quality of league he was in compared to Jelavic? I remember seeing Jelavic highlights last summer and getting excited and he was pretty awful last year. I thought Carr Popes first year was great, but I think he was pretty highly rated from the portal wasn’t he?

If the 5-year clock starts on your 19th birthday then he’s in your “22-23=4” bracket right now. If the clock starts on the first full CBB season after you turn 19 then he may have 2 years left but that’s not how I understood the 5-in-5 rule. I mean it could be that be turned 22 sometime in the last month after the season ended. Not really worth pursuing this further bc we don’t have enough info. If the rumor(?) about him getting a two year contract is true then presumably the coaches know what’s going on.

The Italian league he played in was better than the Adriatic league that Jelavic played in. I projected Jelavic at the end of the rotation preseason last year for a reason, even while everyone was hyping him. Knew he’d be slow to transition to SEC and he didn’t have blow-away skills. This is different. Shot close to same three point percentage as Jelavic against better competition and did so on essentially double the volume. He’s also rangy, crazy wingspan, very athletic, moves like a guard and has very good defensive versatility. He’s a raw but very high ceiling pickup.

The way I understand it, you don't add the 19th birthday, it's after you turn 19, so the counter starts at 20. But that's my understanding of it.

Yes. . he’s got two years left if that rule passed and by all accounts it’s going to next month.

Of course. Everyone who is ours takes a 50% reduction in value immediately by our own. Hate that.
Amazing how times change. I recall when Jared Carter came to UK and our posters were saying that he was far better than some thought because he was recruited by UNC and "anyone who knows basketball knows that he will be a star." Even Tubby hyped him saying that "he could be one of the all time greats."

This board went from inflating the value when they signed to play at UK to what we have now. You can't make this stuff up!
