Ppl don't go because they get fleeced. $4 bottled water. Harassing you about seat cushions, what's it to park now over at the RAC, $25?. Sorry Rutgers, I'm not your ATM machine. I'll watch on HD TV from the bar

Rutgers fans are indeed the worst. They are made up of Yankees, Mets, Jets, Giants, Eagles, and Phillies fans. Absolute worst

If OP was a true Rutgers fan, he/she would request to have this thread taken down, before any current or potential recruits see it.
Blah, it's a reasonable topic. Conversely, the idea that recruits make their decisions based off posts on this board is not realistic.

The crowd looked ok in the 1st half. But completely emptied out at the end. WTF? Is was close, why leave?

Pretty sure recruits are at the game. They can see for themselves. Think the Yankees were happy they missed out on this huge crowd.

Your attitude is why our fanbase is terrible. Have some pride.

It's not about pride. It's about the entertainment dollar.

Sure, I don't live in NJ any more. But I did have season tickets for Shea's last year and Schiano's first two. Ick, but I was there. And my school years coincided with Craig Littlepage's tenure, when I missed two home games in three years of total dreck. So nobody has to lecture me on sitting through hard times. I'm a Rutgers fan, and was before I got to the school (and that didn't happen much back then.)

BUT -- I will never, ever criticize someone for choosing not to attend a sporting event. We know damn well that we can draw. We've done it. I can wait for people to notice.

If they get in late and leave early, I'll rip that. But not showing up at all? Purely a choice. And I can't criticize someone for doing what they want to do.

Fans who were there were passionate.
No need to rag on crowd at all.
And to think this close game was almost at Yankee Stadium where we probably lose at neutral site.

Could you hear me, I was screaming / cursing at the ref call (unbelievable)....in my housw in Oregon.

I was pissed that Wharton wasn't directed away from the ball- but we don't have Grant.

Other than that....GOTTA LOVE OUR TEAM, OUR FANS, OUR ALUMS, OUR ANNOUNCERS / OUR RUTGERS!

Every home game, same complaint.
You can set your watch to it.
This is the worst I've seen it. North side of the stadium was almost completely empty. We can't even break 35,000 against a local conference team after winning 2 of the last 3.

The problem for the light crowd is simple. The game had been scheduled for Yankee Stadium for the last 9 months and many people crossed it off their list and made other plans. The announcement two weeks of moving it back to HPSS was too late for many.

I will say for the 30,000 fans who were actually in HPSS today were loud and boisterous. Great support and helped make it an uncomfortable environment for the Maryland football team ( and the Idiot Refs too.),.

Fans may have been small in number but they were LOUD and HYPE. Best atmosphere since the 2015 blackout vs Mich State, IMO.

All of us in section 129 will have no voice til Tuesday.

that series of booing the refs was the best Rutgers Fan response I have seen in MANY many years. Nice job to those of us that were there to participate.

I admit, I loved it. Our fans can really, really, really hold a grudge. It just went on and on, and kept coming back. Ash was screaming at the refs, then stomping down the field and screaming at more refs. You just know he was saying "Listen to that crowd. This is Jersey. You're gonna wind up in a swamp if you make another **** call like that."

College athletics simply isn't a big draw in NJ as compared to other states.Rutgers fan base comes and goes depending on how the team is performing.Fans showing up in the first quarter and leaving prior to the end of the game have become a norm which I doubt the athletic department is happy about.

I think you're correct. Several in our tailgate group didn't make the game because they had no desire to watch the game at Yankee Stadium and so they made other plans.

Anyone not there today missed a helluva good time. Your loss. That was a great friggin game. Those who were there great job on making it loud.

My section actually started the "Refs you Suck" chant after they blew the off sides call and Ash and the ref were jawing at each other. Big guy a few seats from us actually deserves credit for starting that one. It was perfect for how we all felt at that moment and we quickly joined in.

How do you explain the other games. Homecoming wasn’t much better. Let’s face the facts. We need a lot of fair weather fans.

We go again. It has nothing whatsoever to do with an exciting offense or not. Plenty of teams in the SEC live on the fence, and have for ages, doesn’t stop fans from going to see their games. This is all a product of the previous regime, last season, the decline in season tickets, and this game being moved so late. North end zone is the perfect example as it was practically empty.

Keep winning, Move further out from the flood regime, get back to bowl games, and the fans will be back Citing offense or not.

Greg’s teams didn’t Play exciting offense for all but two seasons yet the fans were there. Silly thought process.
