today has been pretty boring; no real upsets :(
That’s going to be the new normal. Nil and the portal poaches all the talent away from the small schools.

those UNI teams that won games in the tournament, that would not happen today because their good players would have been poached away for a few hundred thousand dollars.

there isn’t more than 2 players on the current UNI that would have cracked the rotation on their past tournament teams.

unlimited transfers has screwed the mid majors too, imo

Florida with 6 players 6'9-7'9.

Crazy.

And only Micah Handlogten is a senior.

6'10" Junior

6'11" Junior

7'1" Senior

6'9" Junior

6'11" Sophomore

7'9" Freshman

I personally love that Florida is basically playing a high school scrimmage tonight.

Prairie View A&M (19-17) is showing why they are the #280 ranked team in the country (per KenPom).

Hopefully #23 ranked IOWA (22-12) can find a way against the #4 Florida Gators (soon to be 27-7).

How the hell does 10 seed Missouri, while playing a higher seed in the opening round, get placed in St. Louis?!?!?!

🤷‍♂️

In 1981 3 seed Iowa had to play 6 seed Wichita State on Wichita State’s HOME FLOOR. There is no way that should have happened.
And as I've stated a few times already, the '87, # 2 seeded Iowa team got sent out West to Tuscan in the bracket with Arizona, poised to be matched up with the Wildcats on their actual home court, but UTEP came from 9 back with 2 minutes to go and we got the Miners. Barely survived by a point or two...

Too soon.

Still remember their coach Gene Smithson and his son who played for him. The kid was kind of a role-player type, iirc, but I seem to remember he came up big for them down the stretch. That was a pisser.

The famous Lute-calling-a-timeout-we-didn’t-have game.

Funny thing, there was a foul called on Iowa before that. Calling the timeout resulted in a technical. WSU shot 4 free throws. The first 2 were for the “regular” foul, and the WSU player missed them both.

Hawks were up 11 at halftime and I think got it up to 15. Stevens Krafcisn was playing well but fouled out on an unnecessary offensive foul when he pushed off driving to the basket. After p*ssing most of the lead away, Lute tried the 4 corners stall, but that didn’t work.

That UTEP team was loaded. Some studs on that team. That NCAA Tourney game was a classic
