Go dodgers! Was hoping they'd get a second crack at Houston.
Happened to be in LA a few years back and shocked when I got decent upper level seats for their playoff game for $65.

Except in LA they’re called the Doy-yers, not Dy-ers and Boston is no longer little man with 3 championships since 2003 with another forthcoming regardless of feeling about anti-NY chant.

Nah, I know I a lot of people who call them the dy-ers.

And Boston is still the little guy. The can't stop talking about the Yankees even when they aren't playing. That's little dude stuff.

Nah, it's what makes that a great rivalry. Go look at the Yankees Season thread, you get the same stuff from Yankees' fans the whole season. Bosux this, Bosux that.

Well ask anyone in LA and theyll tell you Doyers and considering they have Doyer Dogs officially sold at the stadium, I’m not sure what you’re talking about. Never heard Dyers from anyone. Perhaps a clutch of your friends have chosen to further distort the name. And you sound like an old Yankees fan uttering lamentations.

Yep, Los Doyers.

And half of my family has lived in LA for well over 50 years and are huge Dodgers fans. They were season ticket holders before Chavez Ravine when the team played at The Coliseum. I’m nearing 10 personally.

All I know is that last night it was already 10:30pm on the east coast and they were just finishing the 5th inning. It was a fairly entertaining 5 but takes just too damn long to play.

The boys of summer are forever known as Dem Bums period end of story.
Right but those teams didn't really make the transfer to LA. Dem Bums stayed in Brooklyn lore forever. Hodges played for a couple of years in LA, Campy had his car accident, Pee wee only played the first year in LA.

I think they all had the feeling that by 1955, it was now or never to win a championship as the team was aging.

The most popular team in LA by a million miles is the Lakers. Dodgers aren't even close.
Not according to the latest LA survey and fan poll...you can look it up brg.

I have no clue, all I know was Dodger Stadium was a fabulous place to play, and next to Wrigley, the best environment I ever played in.

Very cool aerial shot of Dodger Stadium from another “l Love LA” video I saw online last night...

Never saw this one before.

Chavez Ravine is a great place to watch a game. I suppose I should root for the Dodgers because they haven't won a world championship since 1988, but I find myself pulled to the Red Sox for having slain the Evil Empire that the Steinbrenners run. (And as I was a big Yankees fan as a kid!)

Yes in season, not in the playoffs unless they are playing them.

Dodger Stadium is a phenomenon. 56 years old. In that time about a dozen cities have seen stadiums come and go. (Atlanta has seen two!) Yet Dodger Stadium still has a fresh and modern feel to it IMO.

This is in part because Walter O'Malley had the sense not to build a multipurpose stadium, but rather a stadium built just for baseball. A lot of those stadiums that have come and gone since were designed for both baseball and football, and were good for neither.

Plenty of Brooklyn holdovers on the 59 Dodgers Megadrone.

Zappaa,
Does mlb have a history department or something of that nature? I believe a very well-known member of those 1950s dodger teams lived in my N.J. town and I would like to get his former residence marked historical recognition. But I can’t get anyone to confirm where he actually lived except the street. The Dodgers historian was no help.

Last night MLB network was showing hour-long shows that spotlighted a given season. I saw the end of the 1980 episode. The World Series game in Kansas City was being played in daylight!!! Amazing! It's a shame that TV dictates the game times and kids can't realistically see the end of a World Series game these days.
