OT: WNBA Championship Parade

This guy always tries to connect himself personally to every topic, seemingly to qualify his opinions. Never fails.
I can't watch womens bball, heck I can't watch bball since bird got hurt..but I hope women support womens bball with nil..but not before NU football of course.
thats what these teams who live off football should do.....use nil to pay for their sport.
like if I hit crypto big time I would give a 1# husker running back like 98% donations, then like a lexi sun 2%
where a gal could give a #1 blackshirt nose guard 98% donations then like 2% to a womens basketball player.
then the women bball player could give the money to the university to get them out of the red on womens bball, then once they are out of the red..they keep whats left.

To each their own. I have gone to Chili Cook offs and have attended a WNBA Game. What I have learned over the years is that there are small sub cultures out there that like niche things. That is what the WNBA is.
It's fine, the Lynx in Minnesota draw a decent crowd and sometimes it feels that they outdraw the Timberwolves (they don't, but they block off the upper bowl so it feels that way).

The problem with the WNBA is that they don't know their place. I'm all for niche hobbies, but the WNBA sure is vocal about their joke of a league, talking trash online, when they suck donkey ***. They are lucky that they get paid at all.
Facts, reality, practicality, objectiveness, all out the window. It's all about "lived" experiences and "my" truth, and who are you to tell them what their truth is? If they feel it, it is true, so back off mysogynist!
I think they believe outside factors are preventing their league from being successful, when in reality, there are zero entertaining players to watch. There are zero WNBA players that could hold a roster spot in the NBA. People tune in to the NBA to watch teams full of the most skilled players in the world compete.
I think he's an interesting guy and enjoy hearing about other peoples real world experience. Seems well traveled and respectful as well, even when we completely disagree on something.
Rough crowd

If so, would you discourage them from dreaming about or trying to make it to the WNBA?While I agree with the general sentiment about the WNBA, there are some pretty good female players out there that would handle not just middle schoolers, but a lot of the guys posting on this board. I've played enough pickup ball to know that there are a few ladies out there that have more dog in them than some of our offensive linemen.
Of all people, Bobby Knight was once quoted as saying that women's basketball would become popular when men have daughters who play basketball. It happened with me. I had a daughter play in college and overseas, and I now have a passing interest in the women's game/leagues. By the way, those middle school boys would not have a prayer against good female players. My kid now lives in Arizona. She and another ex-player go to a bar that has an outdoor court and allows for pickup games. They'll start shooting with two hands, purposely clanging shots of the rim or backboard, until they get challenged by guys. Then she and her friend destroy the guys. She's made more than a little bit of money doing that
Remember when the under 15 boys soccer team beat the US Womens National Team? Nobody thought the young boys had a chance. Comparing these professional athletes to people on this board is irrelevant. Those women basketball players only look talented when compared to other women, and athletically challenged, average, ordinary men. When they do the coed skills challenge on ESPN, the women look awkward, and uncoordinated, and the events are handicapped.
You really have to factor in a few things.
1. Guys don't want to "hurt" girls when they are playing them.
2. Guys don't want to embarrass the girl, it is a lose lose for them.
Even in wrestling where the weights are the same, 99% of the time it is a bloodbath.
Your daughter, beating a bunch of drunk/buzzed doods that are jacking around is not some rallying cry for women.

Had a friend who went to the final game in sort of a joking manner. Not like he follows it but was offered tickets so figured why not go watch some layups and uncontested jumpers. He invited me… woulda gone but was busy.
Anyways to my point. Players were in tunnels for national anthem. They had a violinist or something play it. Then everyone came out for the “black national anthem”, w/e that is, and they had a singer and everything. Embarrassing. WNBA is the wokest of them all.

Did you stick around just for the sake of heckling them the entire game? It would be interesting how long they would let it go before somebody tossed you out. They would be pretty much forced to hear it since there were only four hundred other people in the building.

Have a niece that played professionally and know well a player who played professionally before the WNBA. What's your credibility? BTW if people really think middle school boys would mop the floor with WNBA players, they've never played against good women players. I played lots of pick up games with a girl who was All Big 8 twice, an All American, National Champ and pro. She could hold her own with lots of the guys I played with who played in college.

Look, there is a reason why girls teams go ask to scrimmage against the lower level guys teams in HS and not vice versa.
You can take the WNBA all stars and have them play vs a typical varsity high school boys team...and the boys would win.
In fact, if the WNBA was smart, they would schedule that because people might watch it.

Sorry. You haven't played against professional women's players. There are some women in college alone who could embarrass a lot of high school boys let alone professional women. I agree it's a lesser product but I don't watch the NBA any more either.
I would also like to add for the "I played vs girls in pick up games" crowd.

BS. WNBA players would struggle to even get a shot off of college level men. Defensively down on the block? Forget about it. When men play against women, they never play with the same intensity or physicality. Ever.
