Just wait when we are forced to watch the Big Ten Women’s championship just prior to the Big Ten men’s championship this year. This is to solve the gender equity issue in sports.

Big Ten Women’s NCAA volleyball games are packed because they are exciting and for other reasons. Women’s basketball are boring and no draw but they will force it down fans throats that these games should be as exciting as men’s.

You're gonna be forced to watch? Your wife runs the remote, huh? That's rough.

Nothing worse than media talking heads saying they enjoy women's college basketball more than men's college basketball, because it is so much more "fundamentally" better.

"Look at these crisp passes" "The offensive movement" "The screens and passing".

A 6'8" serious athlete dunking over people eliminates all that and is a **** ton more fun to watch. That and 1.2 second fast break dunks, and March Madness. It is like comparing a 3 week old banana to a 2022 fully stacked Ram truck.

Watching that empty parade, I'd feel sorry for them....except it serves them right for forcing their politics onto the audience.

They don't care.

It is the little 'do good' project of the NBA.

Dudes are getting paid $50M a year. They can afford the entire WNBA on a single guys salary.

They should demand equal pay to NBA players. Equity, amirite???
That's what get me. These women are lucky they even make money. They operate at a loss every year and are being subsidized by the NBA. They have the nerve to demand more money. "We work just as hard as they (NBA players) do".

It is like the average joe gamer streaming on Twitch and demanding the same pay as the headliners, even though they don't pull in any viewers.

While I don't agree with trying to push the WNBA if you did want to try and bring it more eyes to it, just treat it like a HS basketball game. Have the WNBA team play before the men. Look to get the concession money and maybe you sell a few of the unused tickets

I think they should let the WNBA fold if it can't make its own money, but it seems their solutions for some of this are just silly. I've thought the same thing about the NCAA games for awhile as well. Just seems to make more sense, but I guess whatever.

In all honesty, I have never met one person who watches the WNBA. For that matter, women's college basketball either.

I'll say this, I'm glad they support a women's league. It's great that some women have the opportunity to continue to play and there are a FEW teams with pretty good fan support. That said, the league would be much better off if some of the nuts would keep their sexual and political agendas to themselves. Women's professional basketball is much better supported in Europe FWIW. I played pickup ball for years with a woman that was playing professionally in Europe for quite a few years. She would come home and play with a bunch of former college and pro players here during her off season. She was an All American in college. 6-5, agile and amazingly easy on the eyes. Super nice person.

Money losimg business as long as it employs the woke = Good

Capitalism that rewards effort to meet the demand and turns a profit = Bad

The sexual and political agenda has nothing to do with viewership in the WNBA. People don't watch because it is 2nd rate.

I'm actually okay with the NBA subsidizing the WNBA. It's their money and they can piss it away however they want. Why should I care?

The comical part for me is that they pass it off as a legitimate league. Oh they work so hard and they're so talented. No one cares, no one watches and no one buys merchandise.

I bet they do work hard and they are talented, but you're right, not many people care that much. This is one of those things that I dont get why people make it a big deal that the WNBA isnt a big deal. Post the video and get a chuckle, i get it. Are they bitching about equal pay or something? Why carry on about how sucky the WNBA is?

Like many here I cannot name a player, I cannot even name a team.

But I can recall articles headlines read and sports channel talking head watched where they were gushing that so-and-so starting center for WNBA team W is a lesbian. So-and-so starting point guard for WNBA team X thinks Y about politicized issue Z.

Rather than enticing me with exciting sports spectacle the WNBA is promoted by being politically provocative.

Leftists ruin everything. I think I'll take a knee.

I don't think there's a squabble about their pay like women's soccer does. I'm mostly annoyed by seeing highlights and scores/videos on ESPN.com because it's so fraudulent. We may as well be force fed curling championships. No one cares and no one can trick us into caring. When they take a knee to support Colin kaepernick's cause, almost no one was there to see it. But of the 10 that did, 4 were turned off by it.

Yes, but if they didn't mention it, would you spend much time watching? Is that the reason you chose not to tune in, or was it because watching it is like watching a cold pot of water come to a boil?

I feel sad for them. But then I laugh as they feel they should be paid more. Its like a car salesman. If I sell 300 cars a month and you sell 20, should you make the same per month as me since we both worked the same amount of hours? Hell no.

Yes, they are gaslighting. ESPN has become more like TMZ or The View than about sports.

I don't care if it's the WNBA or any other organization like them, I enjoy watching all of them crash and burn and fail and go broke. I'm equal opportunity that way. Warms my heart to see America turn their backs, or the channel, when the WNBA or girls soccer comes on.

I literally had no idea they were even playing at all let alone had their "championship". I view that turd of a league like I do badminton and bobsledding. Now we can all look forward to them running that one commercial over and over where they talk up that one chick who could dunk in eighth grade and was high school player of the year. TWICE! I think her name is Ace, or Smoky, or Chika....I don't remember. She must be really stupid though. She could be making millions playing against the men in the parent league. She would probably be an all star or something because she could dunk in eighth grade.

No.

As StoneTempleHusker mentioned some dude flying through the air jamming a ball home IS sports spectacle.

I would not watch the WNBA because it is boring. I will not watch it because it is tainted as a political enterprise rendering its minimal sports spectacle moot. I don't care if they play their games naked.

Ok, that last part may not be true but thats about what it would take to get me to watch them.

I like women's gymnastics, track & field, swimming, skiing, ice skating and watch them regularly.

They start making it political I will turn them off faster than whatever channel has Lebron Clueless playing.

This is exactly why I do not watch NFL and NBA.

Yes, and that's the only point I'm making. I couldn't care less about anything WNBA, just like pretty much everyone else, so I don't understand why people get pissed about it. But when it is being crammed down on me on a sport I enjoy watching, then it is an issue. Damn is Lebron a freaking infant.

I do love that commercial. And you can knock it right off, men and women are exactly the same and are equally good at everything! There isn't anything unique or different about us, unless and until it is politically expedient for there to be something different. And don't you worry when that will be, you will be told.

What grade of a boys team could beat the WNBA champs in a 7 game series?

I would say a high school JV squad.

Same.

Our Frosh team in High School scrimmaged against the starting girl's basketball team. They wanted to get better. We obviously absolutely dominated them, but they did get better.

Anymore, I'd say 9th grade. Maybe 8th?
