Sitting on the floor on Sunday mornings with my dad listening to his Creedence Chronicles Vol 1 record as mom cooked breakfast.

32-33 years later and I still have that record.

I’ll second the Steely Dan - Aja mention below. May be the absolute best sounding album I own. Blue Mountain- Dog Days too. Damn that one takes me back. Some others is no particular order:

Stuff coming out of Third Man, jack white's label. I could swear that the vinyl versions have parts that aren't on the digital versions. I've never compared on the same speakers, but now that you reminded me, I might do that tomorrow.

As much music as I listen to, I feel like an *** even asking this question... but what are the pros for vinyl albums versus a digital copy? Does it sound better or is it more about the collector side of it, or both?

For me, vinyl is about the experience. Not listening to music in the background or as an afterthought, but sitting, dust jacket and liner notes in hand, and listening. Can't be in the car or exercising or whatever. Just listening, and, it's an old rock, jazz, or blues record, doing so in the medium for which the recording was originally made.

Now, as for "objective" sound quality between vinyl and CDs, you're going to get a range of opinions. But science doesn't seem that torn. CDs have more dynamic range, better channel separation, and are less compressed than vinyl:

I never really got into vinyl when I was a teenager or an undergrad at MSU - I was a cassette guy. I know people talk about nuances of sound and stuff like that but I have hearing aids and tinnitus is a constant in my life so all I care about is just being able to hear the music.
