of the landmasses being subsumed by water
of the earth becoming Venus
of the "end of days" religious predictions
of the exhaustion of all natural resources
of an economic collapse
etc etc etc
It doesn't matter if it's real or not, you just need a world dumb enough to reject science and history. Turning dumb people into cowards is rather easy. Turning cowards into slaves is even easier. It took us a few hundred-thousand years to get control of all the plants and animals. The last thing left, is to enslave ourselves (the green new deal). We're almost there. 10,000 years of upward climbing undone in just a few decades.
The left needs everyone to be in the grip of irrational fear if their goals are to be realized.
