I don’t think I’m spoiling anything. Anyone else see a resemblance? Maybe this is why I laughed when General Hux got abused a bit in Episode 8?

Nobody on this board is a bigger Star Wars geek than myself. After episode 7, which was a New Hope just with new actors, I told myself I am done supporting the franchise. I saw Rogue One on Netflix and thought it was very good but I refuse to go see anymore of them in the theater or spend any money on them. It saddens me but reading how it is all going to go (next two episodes and the future after that) I refuse to invest any more into it.

No more good vs evil. The prophesy of dark vs light was misunderstood and how the universe needs balance with both good and evil and how they are both supposed to coexist and not one over the other. What a bunch of garbage!

Saw it last night. My teenage kids thought it was amazing. They raved all night about it.

I thought it was a good movie but not sure if its a good Star Wars movie.

Lucas selling to Disney was good in the sense that more movies will get made but bad in the sense of the direction they are taking it.

I’m also wondering how much different the next one would have been if Carrie Fisher had not passed away.

I sense there's a plot to phase out the old generation of Star Wars fans. I don't know what I just saw.. Rogue One was truly the last Hope..
Given that Harrison Ford wanted out, Mark Hamill is meh and Carrie Fisher is dead, I would say the actors for the first generation SW fans are done. SW 1-8 are plagued by sappy dialogue. People gravitate to the movies made when they were of a younger age. I can’t stand 1-3, but my kids are good with them. IMO, Rogue was heads and shoulders above 1-8.

Thank God! :D

Now if they can figure out a way to phase out the rest, then I will never have to hear about Star Wars ever again!:eek:

Don't let your kids watch Star Wars!!!!

The Force Awakens is the single worst movie I have ever seen. I can't believe they remade Star Wars (1977, not calling it A New Hope) and sold it as a new movie. That thing was diarrhea in a swimming pool.

All of the reviews for The Last Jedi have talked about the special effects or whatever, but I have yet to see one review complementing the plot or character development. Which means it's another piece of crap. Saying the effects were good is like telling someone their blind date is "nice."

Like bomber89, I was a huge fan, and the original trilogy pretty much defined my childhood (born 1972). Won't be seeing this in the theater.

I'm guessing there will be a new series of movies spawned by the Rogue 1 flick, which I'm glad to hear, because Adam Driver bothers me. And Felicity Jones is very easy to look at for a couple hours.

That's a bit of a stretch to me. SE looks like an Opie Taylor type, and the other dude is making movies in Hollywood.

Force Awakens was about one thing. Selling toys. In the past Star Wars has stuggled with 2 demographics when ot comes to toy sales, girls and african americans. So its no surprise who their main characters would be. They threw in a bunch of fan service and trodded out the original plot with the modern day Hollywood pillars of Feminism and Evil White males and people ate it up.

Empire Strikes Back with Rogue 1 close behind. Best writing and character development of all in the series.

Yeah, they would be interchangeable for me. Both were very good.

Just saw Last Jedi, and it was pretty much very ordinary. Still better than all the prequels, so I would put it behind the original 3 and The Force Awakens.

1. Rogue 1 or Empire Strikes Back
3. A New Hope
4. Return of the Jedi
5. The Force Awakens
6. The Last Jedi

23. The 3 Prequels. I can't even remember the names of them, which I'm thankful for.

while I am sure there is some redeeming quality to be found in the new progressive world order of the last jedi, ranking it ahead of a movie where yoda unloads with a light saber is just wrong.

Luke and Kylo saved this movie from being pure garbage. Because of them it was just meh. I would have done things completely differently.

And cars, shampoo, toothpaste, carrot sticks, sleeping bags, bikes, towels, timeshares, halloween costumes, phone apps, etc etc etc.

I like Star Wars but damn the product tie in are just too much with the last few movies.

Kylo and Rey unloading
together and killing all the guards was a wicked sick scene. I think it's better than Yoda vs Palpatine.

Then you're not looking at reviews very well. The character development was well done and quite surprising. There's not predicting the next movie in line.

The Last Jedi sucked so effing bad. I just don't understand how anyone likes these newer Star Wars, that will just have to go under the "I don't get it and never will" category.
Is everyone in this thread over 50? What exactly didn't you like about it? It's far superior to most Star Wars movies. People are just butthurt that it doesn't keep the same old story lines rolling. It was a fresh take and had many great moments. It's a movie that will be appreciated more in time.

Probably the reason the rest of us didn't like it...because it was a snoozefest. And because Adam Driver bothers me and Rey isn't nearly as nice to look at as Felicity Jones.
