I went to Murray State while Cronin was there. I wouldn't be surprised if he motivated it. Let's just say the guy isn't always a "people person".

Yes. Because grown men cursing a kid, while rude, have free speech. Spitting on someone isn’t covered under any freedom. You have to be the bigger person and walk away. Know that’s a difficult concept in our knee-jerk hot head, my rights society.

Spit can contain diseases and bacteria. Just like urine or fecal matter. And I have no doubt you’d be screaming for an arrest in that situation.

That’s the law. Period. And he’s old enough to know that behavior is not acceptable.

Come on man. If I spit on you don’t act like you wouldn’t want to whip my *** and rightfully so. As per usual, knee jerk response. Spitting on someone has been considered assault and/or battery for a long time in most jurisdictions.

Doesn’t matter if “he laid a hand” on anyone. Doesn’t matter what was said to provoke it. He has a duty to walk the eff away. He wasn’t backed in a corner. You show some major maturity and walk away. And it should show on his record. He’s over 18. He’s a LEGAL adult. I wouldn’t want to hire someone like this. And have my business be liable for this hothead. Can you imagine him on a service call or working with a client and he just gets pissed off and spits on someone? Congrats! You now have a major lawsuit on your hands. And you’re liable because you hired his dumbass.

Stop making excuses for this.
I never said I wouldn't want to ship your ***.
In my first post I said the exact things you are, but going to jail is a freaking joke

I'm pretty sure you were one of the idiots defending BLM's actions during the summer of riots so it's no surprise you think it's ok to spit on somebody because somebody may have called you a name or provoked you.
You're wrong there. Not me. I did however say that rupp probably was racist in the 1950's. Hell most every white man was. If you would use your eastern ky mountain education and read my first post you would see that I said it was horrible.

Spitting at someone is waaay waaaaaay different than on the court play. This was idiotic.
no matter what one‘s opinion, we’ve still got a pandemic afoot. And even if we didn’t, how vile can you be? No one wants your spit on them. No wants a chance to get some nasty crap from you body fluids when they don’t know you. That’s pure biological assault. No different than the Tik Tok idiots running around licking the ice cream and putting it back or pretending to cough on produce. Don’t be an ***. Common decency is shot.

I would never dream of spitting on someone. Disgusting.

Kid should be off the team and is probably risking his status as a student at a very very good school. Idiot. Absolute idiot. Hope it was worth it.
I have aplenty of people I'd spit on.. And hope I'd have some virus that would kill them in 4 hours.. My sister would be enemy #1..

Yea ok.. what a pu*** world we live in...

A kid made a mistake but didn't lay a hand on anyone. That will show on his record for years to come trying to get a job. It's a joke. Especially when you have no idea what was said or done to provoke it
Is that the kind of behavior that you excuse? "I'm pissed off, I'm going to batter someone". THAT and NOT BEING HELD ACCOUNTABLE for one's behavior are the major problems with this society today. The "victim" in your fantasy land didn't even dress and play yet he was so offended he chose to spit AND was only issued a misdemeanor citation and released on the scene so that will hardly affect his "permanent record" in life.

Spitting on someone has ALWAYS been assault. The fact that you think it should be okay to do without legal repercussions tells us all we need to know about you.
I've never in my life heard of anyone being arrested for spitting at someone.
I know for a fact nobody was getting arrested for it in the 60's and 70's. If you called the cops on someone for spitting on you, you would have your soft as* whipped.

It's Rupp and Eastern Kentucky (with capital letters) mountain education. If you're going to insult somebody about their education at least use proper punctuation.

Less of a joke as your take on this. It’s bad and here you are doubling down.

Dude broke the law. Dude got arrested. Doesn’t matter if he’s an 18-24 year old college ball player or some older dumbass drunken fool.

Is been a Class B Misdemeanor in Kentucky since 1982 as far as I can tell. Misdemeanor in the presence of a police officer will land you a trip to the slammer. Every time. Especially with a complaining witness.

So he won’t have to report it more than likely on future job applications. But that won’t matter. He’s made national headlines for being ridiculously stupid. Not the kind of guy you want representing you for awhile.

Yes it's disgusting beyond belief and I wouldn't begin to do anything like it, but arrested is too far. When are fans gonna be held liable for provoking players. I'm not saying that's the case this time but we all know fans get away with murder. Grown men yelling and cursing 18/19 year old kids, and they are expected to be quiet and take it
It was 18 year olds yelling at 18 year olds.

I would kick him off the team

One of those fans might have whooped that ***, grab that hair and go down to the floor and he will have to go to. These players think they are bad asses in part because they know somebody will hold them back. would have loved seeing a fan pull that hair out.

Fine him, intense community service and a public apology. maybe even a night in the drunk tank.

I would love to see a video replay of the lives of the posters on this board, even the self-righteous posters. Every stupid thing you’ve ever done. I dare say most would be posting from the prison library computer for something equally stupid or possibly worse.

That is why we have judges. They have the responsibility of making sure there is fairness in the legal system. Too bad it didn't happen in LA. Their DA would probably buy him a beer and tell him about how murderers are now getting a slap on the wrist.

Stop with the self-righteous BS. Like I said before, I would love to see a video of all the stuff you did in your past that should have landed you in jail (and you know what I’m talking about). Spitting on someone is disgusting and should be punished but the intense take you have is way off base. So off base it actually makes me chuckle a bit. “Horrible behavior .”

Happens all the time when Officers are making an arrest and the subject spits on them.

After what this ENTIRE country has endured for the past 2 years with Covid-19, SPITTING on another individual should MOST DEFINITELY get you arrested!!!!

Then adding to the Covid risk, the DISGUSTING act in and of itself is enough to have the kid punished. I don't care what anyone SAYS to you, spitting on someone should be considered as bad as PUNCHING someone in the face!!

The kid KNEW EXACTLY what he was doing and needs to answer to WHATEVER the offended person wants done about it under the law.

I remember a TON of spitting incidents in sports. Where were the arrests?
solid point, I think the difference may be that generally it is player spitting on another player and in that case the other player can generally retaliate in some manner and a fight breaks out, sort of a mutual combat situation. When it is a fan though they can't really jump on the court and fight the player.

You can’t tell me he didn’t know when he did it that the recipient would be unable to do anything back to him. Bush league crap from a bush league program. Will be very interested to see the UCLA admins reaction to this.
