2016 has been as bad as I can remember for celeb deaths...didnt get Keith Richards though
One of the best pop albums of the 80's, George Michael was the real deal. RIP
Ha. This says it all about how hollow "pop" fame is. And how stupid our culture's cult of celebrity is.Too young here. Never heard of him.
Neither has my father in law, so I googled his songs and listened to part of 10 of his "best" songs and didn't recognize any of them.
53 is too young for anyone to pass away. I hope to live to be 100 myself. About 65 years left!
I remember they had a creepy "most likely to die next" poll in Rolling Stone shortly after Jim Morrison died (on the heels of Joplin, Hendrix, and Brian Jones). Keith Richards won hands down with something like 86% of the vote. Looks like he had the last laugh.2016 has been as bad as I can remember for celeb deaths...didnt get Keith Richards though
1. If you never heard any of his songs you never have put on the radio to a station that wasn't country or metal.
Ha! I hear that!Close!
99% country music and rap music over the years.
Two best kinds of music...(just kidding, just pokin' jabs at the 99%+ on this board) well, rap in the late 90's and early 2000's, ok, mostly eminem.
Mostly country music (about 1987 through now) for me along with the other less than 1% of the posters on this board I bet...
Have a local station that plays the greatest hits of the 70's 80's and 90's for that kind of music, but I've never listened for more than a few songs. When I saw this thread, Michael Bolton popped in my head and I thought it was him until I said the name again.
It is a different experience when you grow up in rural SW Nebraska with only 5 different radio stations (classical, pop/rap, soft-rock, old country, new country) compared to you guys in the big cities that have an FM station for every tuner frequency on your radios.
When I hit my seek button, it takes a few seconds to find a station![]()
Nice!andrew ridgley
I see what you did there.Nice!
I guess we can say that this was Georges...Last Christmas.
So a matter of taste; but he really hit on a few. IMO, if you even get one out that really touches people or that can change a life, you really " made it " -I see what you did there.
One of my favorite versions of this song ever. The man had his issues like many celebrities but his skills were world class. Our planet just lost one of the greatest entertainers (at his peak). RIP good soul.
Sucrose sweet sappy 80s pop music. I don't like seeing any guy pass away, but their music was as whimpy as it gets.

He sold out stadiums all over the world and was insanely talented and remained very popular for several decades.
I was never real fond of his voice. I thought he ruined "Don't Let the Sun Go Down on Me" when he did the duet with Elton.
That's what makes music what it is ... it means different things to all people. I could not possibly disagree with you more, but you are entitled to your tone deaf opinion
And it's perfectly fine with me that you enjoy extraordinarily gay music. Not that there's anything wrong with it. I'm glad we're both so tolerant. Winking
Saw a pic of him from few months ago on tmz. Didnt even recognize. Looked like 300 lbs. Also substance abuse rumors. So put those 2 together. Not good.53. No released cause of death.
In recent years, the hedonistic lifestyle that the singer became famous for had left the once dashingly handsome pop icon a bloated version of himself.Saw a pic of him from few months ago on tmz. Should I feel bad that this doesn't move the needle for me? I never vibed with his music and I didn't particularly like his lifestyle. Not the gay aspect, but the excessive self-indulgent risky behavior. I'm not glad he's gone, but I feel he's nowhere near being on the same level as Bowie, Prince, Cohen, etc
