OT:Question for smokers

Anyone who smokes is an idiot (or at the very least, have made an idiotic decision).

And I say this because my mom died of lung cancer and was a smoker.

Any time I see people smoking, it kind of pisses me off (especially when parents smoke around their young kids, or when I see parents smoking WITH their teenage children. Those people are really idiots.)

The bottom of the barrel are parents who smoke around their small children, especially in their vehicles or inside the home.

Total trash.

How dare you insult those who get offended by insensitive jokes! What the hell's wrong with you, you insensitive prick?

Faux Outrage has become very popular in today's society. I swear that some people walk around anticipating an opportunity to become offended by others and relish the chance to be outwardly critical of another's actions, either online or in conversation.

I try to avoid these types of people like the plague.

How dare you offend the faux outrage crowd? I am offended on their behalf.

Within one more generation smoking will be pushed to the very small fringe. Just give it time.

To add to your comment that it makes you mad, I don't unless I am on a busy road with many cars, wear a bike helmet.

1. There is nothing better than the wind in your hair. Freedom. Great child hood memories riding from sun up to sun down to every corner or Somerville.

**2. I deeply enjoy ruining someone day. I know for a fact people can't stand seeing people who ride w/o them; sometimes berating them. Been there. I love knowing they are going to bed still mad someone wasn't riding with a helmet on.

I'm always surprised how many people smoke in the health care industry. Nurses especially. Many hospitals ban employees from smoking now, but before they did you'd see quite a few out there puffing away.

The amount of high school kids smoking seems to far surpass the amount of kids smoking back in my day. LAte 70's early 80's...

Living out West now for almost 2 years and with all of the wildfires it pisses me off even more that people throw burning cigarette butts out their car window. The Yellowstone fire in 1988 (or at least a good part of it) was started in just that way.

I think at one point most were smokers. Now it’s very taboo. Its 2017 and if you still smoke you’re a loser. There’s medicine and tons of ways to quit. So enjoy killing yourself slowly.

then there is the vaping thing....fools people into thinking it's better for you. Although I do know ONE person who used vaping to ween himself off of nicotine. Other than that they are kidding themselves. And the vaping probably attracts kids with all the flavors.

The answer is because they are lazy! But also let's not forget the morons who throw fast food bags out of their cars, leave bags of food or trash in parking areas, spit on the sidewalk,or just are totally uncaring about who should clean up after them.

Why do some smokers feel it is ok to throw their cigarette butts on the ground?

1) is it because it small so it's not noticeable to anyone else?
2) is it because its mostly just paper/tobacco plant and being eco friendly you're just putting nature back in its place?
3) is it ok, because you first set it on fire so it will burn itself up and there won't be anything remaining?
4) is it ok, because you threw it out your car window while going 70mph so when it hits the highway friction will disintegrate it?
5) you just don't give a shat?
6) or something I overlooked?

I have wondered this for a while and I'm not a smoker, so I don't know if this is common acceptable practice or a few bad apples making the majority of the mess out there.

Could someone shed some light on this?

Thanks

Because they are by and large disgusting people?

most people have moved on to vaping because they somehow think it is healthier. I mean it can be but not the way most people use it.

A lot of my daily garbage is biodegradable - doesn't mean I throw it out on the front lawn.
I used to have a real scumbag neighbor that would flip his butts over onto my side yard. I told him about it once, and he still did it.My wife works for the town and told me don't start trouble and embarrass her.I would collect the butts every month or so, and dump them in the middle of his perfect front lawn. I did it twice, before he stopped doing it. I never said a word to him, and the scumbag never once said a word to me about it,lol.

i actually had a guy in my NYC office(open cubicles) vaping like a chain smoker at his desk every day. I asked him to stop, he ignored it, others asked him, he ignored it and started to act like he was a victim. Ended up that he forced us to get HR involved and he ignored them twice before finally getting a last warning. At that point he stopped but pouted like a baby. Swore that it didnt harm anyone

Love it - I would have done much the same, probably getting some help from my dog ; )

This is a big NO, NO for my employees. They all smoke, they know not to throw cigarette butts on the ground and to pick up all their garbage at the end of the day. It drives me nuts. My tailgate crew meets at my house. One of them smokes. He had the balls to throw his butt in my driveway. I looked at him and said, "Mark, I'll be by your house tomorrow to throw my garbage on your front lawn". He said, "Why". I said, "Because jackass, you just thought it was ok to throw yours in my driveway".

Couple of weeks ago I was sitting in traffic behind a Prius. They had a bumper sticker that said "Save the planet... drive a Prius!" That's when I saw the driver toss the cigarette butt out of the window.

Vapers might be the absolute worst of the bunch. Have this stupid idea stuck in their heads that vaping isn't harmful - it's borderline healthy!! - so it must be totally cool to do it anywhere and everywhere. Not sure why they fancy the rules any different than cigarettes.

Meanwhile, they ignore all the studies that suggest it's really not much, if any, better than good, ol' smoking, all while doing it 10 times as much as they ever would have smoked cigarettes. Inconsiderate dopes.

Remember pre-1982 with people tossing beer and soda can "pull tabs" everywhere? Wasn't just smokers. Entrance to our highschool football field was littered with them. Cut my foot on one at the Shore back in mid-Seventies. Lazy or too important to be inconvenienced.

LOL! But he's allowed, since he is doing his part by driving a Prius.

I dated a girl in college that smoked - like kissing an ashtray. Also, being around her caused my contacts to turn yellow. Never again!

I loved the people down in Charlottesville driving a Honda or Nissan or other foreign car with the bumper sticker: "Buy Fresh. Buy Local."

I know your car tastes run a few decades behind the curve, but that post shows a wilful ignorance to the realities of the global car industry of 2017.

When we visited one of the rangers told us that the southern portion of the fire (road between Yellowstone and Grand Teton) was due to a cigarette tossed from a window. But I’ll defer to you since you have first hand experience!
