The coverage over the last ten+ years has been unforgivable. Terrible “news” outlet. RU D1 sports survived; they won’t - as it should be. ****** little outfit couldn’t figure out how its bread was buttered. Put it in the hands of better management. Its demise will go unnoticed.

When NJ.com goes under, I'll miss the many typos in articles that somehow make it online despite somebody supposedly proofreading it.
They laid off their sports editor. He was actually a nice guy. Ran into him at a bunch of Springsteen concerts.

This may sound like ransom, but I'll agree to support them if they fire Ted Sherman.

NJ.com / Star Ledger's coverage of RU sports has improved greatly over the years. I'll never forget then they gave more ink to Jamil Pollard's commitment to PSU than they did to Darius Hamilton's commitment to Rutgers (reported on the same page the same day). This was despite Hamilton being a much bigger recruit, and Pollard and PSU were only a match because PSU's recruiting was going downhill that year due to the Sandusky scandal and Pollard's recruitment was on a steep decline due to academic issues.

In contrast, today the S/L gives almost no ink to NJ HS stars who select PSU in the recruiting process.

Evidently you must have spent time on the comments section to understand they removed it because there were many anti NJ.com replies. If it didn’t fit their personal agenda and viewpoint well: that was verboten.
No, they didn't remove it for that. Hell, it seriously bumped their click rate, so they didn't give a rat's arse what was said. They removed along with a large number of other sites nationwide back in Feb. most likely because either the company producing the software wasn't upgrading or maintaining that section or the software was deprecated. I see that all the time in my industry.
You know when a group of people have to take out an ad in a media outlet to refute the lies that newspaper is spreading, that's something that should not ever be forgotten..
Worse was the fact that we paid for a specific page for that to be posted, but they stuck it in the back of whatever section it ended up in.
I'm definitely wizened enough to be a wizard, don't know if I have the "wise" part down yet.
Oh I definitely have the "wise" part down, but.....

Firing isn't good enough.

.
Pure nonsense. They all removed them because the comment sections would often expose their narrative, like I'm doing to you right now.
Why would they need to upgrade any software? They are simple programs that have been around for years and work just fine.

Here is part of the letter from the Editor of the Staten Island Advance, sister paper to the Star-Ledger.:
"And then there was Thomas O: “Hahahaha this is the funniest article for this poor LIBERAL RAG that will be out of BUSINESS FINALLY!!!! Your a FAKE NEWS PAPER and your clickbait letters to the editor is PROOF of your AGENDA!!!!” (Caps compliments of the author.)
I could talk with Thomas all day and never convince him that difference of opinion, political or otherwise, is healthy in a free society. Our country would not be what it is without debate. And pretty boring. (Although Thomas did see the request for support and my “clickbait letters,” so he must be reading us. But we’ll leave that alone.)"

And this is after both papers and many other Advance Publications across America decided to eliminate the ability to comment on articles. So much for the ability to debate.

Sorry champ, this is my industry and I know what I'm talking about. And it's no coincidence that disparate entities back in February ALL stopped using the comments section.

why don't they say it's a software issue then instead of saying "we are finding better ways for you to carry out discussions on the issues you care about”, whatever that means.
