It's a smart move.
Fixing a perceived weakness will make the PGA stronger.
Doesn't mean the PGA will be accepting LIV players back, just eliminating what some might feel is a reason to jump.
As for where the idea came from, dosen't matter if it helps to be more player friendly and strengthens the relationship it has with current PGA members
Yes, raging hypocrisy is always a smart move. LOL!

Wouldn't call it flooping. Nothing I've heard or read believes LIV has a good chance of winning the anti-trust case. If they lose and don't get a TV contract for their exhibitions, what then?

All they've done is make the Tour a lot more profitable for players 1-154. Winners will now get $3.6 million for winning more than half of the Tour events and filter down from there.
LIV had a great chance of winning. Trust me.

Call it what you want, but taking something from a rival and using it to make you stronger is a smart move.
Ignoring something that might help because a rival is using it would be considered dumb.

I predict LIV will win in court but it won’t matter at the end of the day. The league will bleed money and Saudis will get tired of seeing the losses on the books. They have incredible wealth obviously but even wealthy people who can afford it don’t like seeing losses.

The PGA will reign supreme but we will see some of LIVs strategy bleed into the PGA. I’m fact we already are.

It will be like how the NFL destroyed the XFLs first edition, but adopted some of their strategies.

Two more golfers dropped out of the anti-trust suit - Ancer and Kokrak. LIV Golf, however, is now part of the suit.

The biggest hurdle will be them trying to argue harm here. As the previous judge pointed out, LIV contracts were written to compensate for potential lost PGA earnings, sponsorships, etc. LIV is trying to argue now that the reason they have to pay those high dollars is because of the PGA Tour's threats to ban players. It's an interesting stance to take for sure.

It's going to be a fascinating suit but it seems like this thing won't even get going until late 2023. Geezus. LOL.

EDIT: ESPN reporting Smith is leaving for sure and also Niemann, who interestingly was at the Tiger meeting. The rest are lower ranked guys like Laihairi and Varner.

Sounds like Hideki M is leaving soon as well. Gonna wait to get a few more Japanese players on board to announce a new all- Japanese LIV team. Smart move!

Details finally coming out:

LIV Golf keeps getting stronger.

The upstart league financed by Saudi Arabia's Public Investment Fund is adding Cameron Smith, the No. 2 player in the world and reigning Open champion, plus three area players among seven more golfers who are defecting from the PGA Tour, according to Sports Illustrated and the Golf Channel.

Joining Smith, who also won the 2022 Players Championship, are Joaquin Niemann of North Palm Beach, Mito Pereira of Tequesta, Anirban Lahiri of Palm Beach Gardens, Marc Leishman, Harold Varner III and Cameron Tringale. SI reported all but Pereira will play in LIV's event outside of Boston starting Friday.

You do know what came out of the Tiger/Rory meeting...right?? That is why guys like Niemann are jumping ship.

The playoffs have some LIV features (big money, no cuts and small field). But the difference is that the players have to earn the big money. That’s what makes it fun to watch. Scottie just lost 12.25mm dollars!!!!!

LOL. You really don’t understand golf. Take a guess what’s the best winning percentage is? Jack Nicklaus is a loser 84% of the time.
He's a LIV troll. Rory is enemy #1 to the fans of that exhibition series.

Really that is your response? Unlike today's PGA/LIV players you played for the trophy or you didn't. The trophy isn't a big deal anymore, it's all about the paycheck. Tiger and Rory is proof with the crap they are going to lead.

Yes, really. Have no idea what you are talking about. Winning matters in PGA. This isn’t an exhibition league. It’s hard to win. It’s funny now you are trying to argue the players are all money hungry. Few posts ago you said the tour was cheap. just stop.

great golf today.

Cant waiting to see next weeks exhibition. I hear they’re going to play with orange balls and have fireworks afterwards. The winner gets a camel..

So you have no clue what's next do you? Yet you are arguing that the PGA players are playing for the trophy?? Yes the players are money hungry. It was all about the paycheck today. No one cares about the FedEx trophy. There is no long history with it.

Was this weeks tournament not an exhibition as well? The leaders started with handicap strokes. Sounds like an exhibition to me. Sheffler wouldn’t even have been in contention without the extra shots.

Where are you reading this? Go back and read the post I was responding to. Not sure why you even jumped in for?

No, ask Scottie after losing 12+ million dollars if it felt like an exhibition. Btw, the guy with the best 4 days won.
