LIV crowd looks pretty good for a Thursday. The crowds will get larger with more momentum.

I was wondering why Jerry Foltz was no longer on the Golf Channel. I see he is the analyst here. And the main announcer is a Premier league announcer / on Ted Lasso as well.

I no longer watch every NFL game available. The Sunday, Monday and Thursday night game are crap most of the time. In any weekend there is no more then 2 great matches.
You missed the point. It’s all bout competition. You may not care about the Thursday night game, but the fans of those two cities do, especially if they’re in play for a playoff spot. The LIV guys are playing for what? They get paid no matter what. It’s a freaking exhibition. There’s more competition in my Saturday wolf game.

You are missing the point! The NFL stands for the NATIONAL Football League. Nobody cares about a Houston/Cleveland blowout that starts at 8pm. And nobody wants to watch it on Amazon

Just 5 million people each week.
people have been saying no one will watch the NFL (state any reason, any at all) , but the league has been watched by more and more people and that's why Amazon decided to get involved broadcasting games.
Hell when Thursday night football first started there were those that claimed it wouldn't last because no one would stay watching it till the end of game.
Good game, potential blowout, 2 bad teams playing> there will be enough viewers to make networks pay through the nose for broadcasting rights

Upon which video source can one see the LIV golf events?

The announcers for the LIV Golf broadcast are too much. LOL. It's entertaining in the sense how over the top it is especially trying to push the LIV brand but I would guess at some point it would get annoying.

LIV announced they will expand to 14 tournaments next year. Yeah, nothing to see here. Don’t know why PGA “over-reacted”. Surely it’s not competition.

Of course they are. They have a bottomless pit of money to throw as many events as they want. At the end of the day their viability isn't about how many tournaments they can create, etc.

Golfers said they went to Liv to play less golf. They specifically cited 8 tournaments as a reason.

I think the plan was always to go to 12 or 14 tournaments, but maybe I am wrong on that. Given many of the bigger names that have signed and the ones they will try to sign have upfront money payments, is there a requirement for them to play in a specific number of tournaments?

PGA just need to weather the initial storm. I predict if LIV can’t get remotely self sustainable by 2024, the Saudi will convert to a WGC style and work with the PGA.

Gotterup is tied for the lead at the John Deere. But JT Poston is looking strong

the Saudis might consider that a win and feel the LIV investment panned out OK just not what was hoped for ( tour wise) when it started

Outside of Rutgers nation, ratings must be an all time low here. Would be cool for Gotterup to be in the mix on Sunday.
Piston will be hard to catch. I’ll be watching and pulling for Gotterup. A win this early in his career would be life changing.

The coverage was good from a local perspective since Gotterup went early and Morgan Hoffmann later. I am glad to see Morgan back.

LIV expanding to 14 has to do with world rankings. Likelier to get world ranking consideration if you have 14 tourneys. Heard this today from a PGA tour buddy today.

Watch a little bit of both today. Still can’t believe you can join Pumpkin Ridge for 12k. Pulling for Gotterup in John Deere.

Momentum will only grow as they hold more tournaments. The tournament was a fun watch this week. Bedminster should be even better.

Pat Perez tied for 29th of 48 at +6.He earned $ 150k in prize money and $750k for being on the winning team.

That doesn’t include the $10M signing bonus he just got. Think he is happy being with LIV Golf?

What made it a fun watch? It’s a small field and only 9 players within 10 strokes of the winner. John Deere is more fun to watch than this.

I’m a big fan of getting paid to do very little. Participation trophies all around.

1. team aspect..even those on bottom of leaderboard had so much to play for.

2. Shotgun start. Everyone was on course at same time, so many ups and downs on leaderboardz

3. Great leaderboard with stars at top

The fact that all the players are playing at the same time. Since they do a shotgun start, constant action. I watched the same amount of the PGA yesterday and took a nap since it was so boring. Hell they barely showed Gotterup so that was disappointing. Very dull PGA overall.

So it’s important to you to see the guys that shot 10+ over and the guys that are 15 strokes better on the course at the same time. To me, that’s pointless. I still don’t understand the team thing. I tuned in JD when Gotterup tees off. He blocked his first tee shot (iron) into the woods so I turned it off (TKR Jinx). Turned it back on the catch the last hour. Love the fact that Poston lost ground shooting -4. That’s exciting to me. I’m just not into the exhibition style.

I like that the whole round is done at the same time for all. Around 4 hours tops. Plus it’s good it’s west coast this week. I can play golf in the AM, take a nap and then watch the entire round. The PGA Tour took over 8 hours to complete a round (and I didn’t get to see much action). I give LIV credit for trying something different.

It’s not an exhibition though. Don’t know why this narrative came out.

Pat Perez lives a good life. The wife, the cars, the Jordan’s, the house, the whiskey. As far as I know the only one he admitted he bolted for the money.

I see LIV as an exhibition for top players to make a fortune, and for lesser players to received guaranteed pay of 100k per event. There are only 48 spots in the field on 12 teams. All players stay in the same hotel and live together each event. It’s like a traveling road show and the pay is enormous.

Imo 54 holes is a rain shortened tournament and the depth of the LIV field is not good at this point but that is changing. Paul Casey just signed up for LIV yesterday. 48 players competing for 25M w LIV while the John Deere has 150 guys competing for 7M.

But the skill, depth and competition is far better at John Deere. Hope it’s a strong finish.

Seems like the Deere is more of a venue for the lesser PGA Tour players to compete while the better ones rest up for Scottish Open on July 7th then go to the British Open on the 14th

Seems odd LIV won't announce attendance numbers or how many tickets they made available each day.
First event in the US. I doubt they even had a limit on tickets available. For them it’s not how many tickets they sell now. Check back in 1-2 years after they have a full rotation of events.

I will say the media seems to start coming around. Still mostly negative but any coverage is good coverage at this point.
