Now that we are "allowed" to participate in outdoor dining has anyone partaken yet? For those into "science" how does the virus not effect anyone eating? The tables are 6 feet apart and masks are down. Is there an invisible barrier that prevents the wind from blowing beyond 6 feet? And why when you stand up and use the restroom or leave you have to put your mask on? I'll pass on outdoor dining for now and just stick to going to work and heading to Shop Rite. Some days I am daring and head into the Belle Mead Co-Op for supplies. And Sunday....wait for it.... I was allowed to attend church.

We sat down for an outdoor dinner in Avalon yesterday. Tables were spaced 6' apart. We came in and sat down with masks, then wore them only to speak with the waiters and go to the bathrooms inside. We were apparently the only ones with masks besides the staff. Guessing that the other diners were locals who went straight there from their beach homes, and never had to go inside anywhere. Was a great feeling, and would certainly do again.

I rode by IHOP yesterday. They had 4 tables outside. Both were occupied by elderly couples. The diner in Hillsborough has 2 tables outside. Haven't seen anyone sitting outside there yet. Such a shame as its come to setting 2 tables outside to try to survive. Restaurants have a hard time as it is let alone be at 25 or even 50% capacity.

I drove past The Landing on Amwell Rd. last night. There was a decent crowd on the patio and additional tables on the grass but they were scattering because of rain. For some reason, I'm really looking forward to just having a few beers while sitting at a bar.

Just make your political point and stop beating around the bush. 50% capacity sucks for restaurants. The alternative is to open wide open, have your staff and customers get sick and pay $7-$10k weekly to get the placed sanatized.

The outside patio is usually packed on Friday/Sat nights in the summer. Tiger's Tale in Rocky Hill has tables set outside. Most weekend nights its hard to find a parking spot and has a waiting list. Wonder how they faired with the rain last night.

It’s highly unlikely that droplets can make it from one respiratory system to another in an outside setting 6ft apart.

You wear a mask to the bathroom because bathrooms are indoor and in high traffic zones. If someone infected coughs without a mask indoors, on the way to the bathroom, the droplets tend to just float, easily infecting other people.

Any other questions?

Rutherford closed down park ave for the four or so restaurants within a block radius , giving them room for outdoor tables on the street

. I ate at Paisano’s, italian obviously, Wednesday night

I would say that the tables were more than six feet apart, so the customers were the six feet apart required

It went pretty well, although the waiter was concerned about how it would work if it rained during dinner hours the next couple of nights

There was a band playing classic 70’s and80’s
Music which was not expected, and they were very good

Have done it twice already. Once in Pa two weeks ago when they opened prior to jersey and this week at an Italian Place who always has outside backyard seating under a roof.
The PA experience was on a front porch overlooking the Del. River and it was disappointing because all they did was had you a box lunch.
The Maria Roses in Sergentsville was just like normal and really enjoyed it.
We've had hardly any cases here in Hunterdon and nobody really cares.
Yeah you wore a mask to walk thru the restuarant but after that it's BAU.
I love seeing all the places near us now having outside seating. And they have been getting plenty of customers. Good for them! We're planning to continue to go out 2x per week.

In addition, I decided to pay the $10 and get Anti-Body tested next week just to see. Figured whatever results I get apply to the wife too since we've the only two in the house and have been for quite some time.

Hillsborough Diner has 7 outside tables today ... or do you mean the diner on 206 in Montgomery?

My wife, son and I will partake in outside dining this afternoon. We thought it would be easier if we did a mid afternoon meal to be able to get a seat.

Yumm. Did you notice if Rutherford Pancake has outdoor set up? That's my pancake spot. Lol

(You may not have gone down that far)

Sorry, did not notice if the pancake house was open. I want to go to Risottos next week if the weather looks good. Since there are several restaurants close together in that area,
So it was more populated and a bit more ‘festive’
Closer to the music also

I like The Risotto House as well. I'll be over there Tuesday to see my nail lady so I'll check out the Pancake House situation...
We are trying to get reservations for Elia in East Rutherford(Greek) for one night.

We ate outside at a restaurant Wednesday in Allendale. Wore a mask when we got there and when we placed our order. Did not wear it when eating, didn't see anyone enter the restaurant to use the restroom but there was a sign on the door saying a mask must be worn if you had to use one. The tables were pretty far apart, I didn't measure but I would say they were probably more than 6 feet apart. All wait staff wore masks and gloves and we tipped 50%.

I'm in a big restaurant/pub area. The millennials are out in force, and the riverfront joints are hopping. My friend owns the biggest restaurant in the area and he opens Tuesday. I stopped by today, and its kind of a downer to see all the "social distance" stickers on the floors, blocked off bar corners and QR codes stuck to middle of tables.

My friend had COVID-19 in March

Do him a favor and pull up the stickers 4 him. After a few drinks nobody will care about this social distancing crap, they will only care about getting laid and THAT you can't do while social distancing .

My wife and I had dinner tonight at an outside dining restaurant. Great atmosphere and everything was great !

Interesting thing was no physical menus as you scanned the menu on your phone but was surprised they gave you actual silverware instead of plastic utensils.

People wore masks coming onto the patio but once sitting, everyone had the masks off.

Food was fine as well !

Was great to get back to Normalcy !

Virus or Not, people need to get back to normalcy !

He's part of a Greek family that owns restaurants up and down east coast for 50 years. They play by the rules and do a lot of humanitarian stuff. I think they are just blessed honestly. They own all their stuff, and will be last ones standing when the newbies are gone (but one other guy is loaded with WWII defense contractor fortune and has started a half dozen restaurants - with one having 6 million rec area).

Curiously, my friend is also a builder, and had a large condo project on Hudson ready to go. He has good instincts and bailed out. He expects another CV closing in the fall.

Went to Capital Craft in Green Brook on Wednesday night with the wife and daughter. We were well spaced apart. I really hate that you have to schedule ahead to go eat or drink. Most of the time i have no idea if I will be available or want to go out a day or 2 ahead. I was thinking of going to new Ashton Brewing in Middlesex tomorrow but not sure exactly when I will be able to go. I tried to schedule a noon table for a quick flight before wife's family comes over. When i tried to schedule online it only listed a group of 2 or more. I prefer to go to breweries solo. This whole thing sucks

Starting to think about doing it. Friday nights used to be Restaurant night. We changed it to Take Out night. Take out night is getting pretty stale and the food, frankly it sucks, compared to sit down at a Mom and Pop place. Might see what we can find in Asbury next Friday.

Everything it’s hopping on the north side of LBI. Has been for a week or two (esp on weekends). A lot of places have closed their parking lots and added tables.

My wife, son and I went out this afternoon. It was well worth it. Talked to other people young and older and everyone was happy. Please do it and go to a mom and pop place. That is what we did.

MrScrew and I went out to Marcellos in Bordentown. Their bar area has tables for eatingaand has a retractable roof which gives them a big leg up over any competition. They also had tables outside. Tables spaces 6 feet apart. Bar chairs had 2 down and 3 up to space out for couples. But we watched people start talking to the couples next to them and then move over so they could stop shouting over the 3 empty chairs.
Masks required to walk in and out and to go inside to use the rest room. Staff with masks on.
It felt great to be out and human again.

The Landing is the place to be, definitely the best patio and lawn for outdoor dining in this area. Old Man's in Hills also has a nice set-up. He did a pick-up on Thursday and saw it. Our country club (CV in Monty) has plenty of space for outdoor dining and will reopen their pool on Monday (at reduced capacity via reservations).

We will be in Stone Harbor for 2 weeks in Aug. Looking forward to it! What restaurant did you visit? How was it?
