Anyone signed up because of the quarantine? I didn’t because I have a problem. Not afraid to admit it. I wish there was a way to play the lottery w/o having to go buy a physical ticket (mega and powerball).

Have been playing poker since it became regulated again in NJ years ago, don't play any other games since you can't beat the house.

The prize pools for the daily tournaments and series on the regulated sites have been way up since the quarantine began, but it still pales in comparison to the good old days pre UIGEA. The unregulated sites have also seen a traffic boom, but personally I don't play on them.

I miss online sports betting. I was tallying up wins & losses for 2019 and saw my last wager was February 2nd. So much has changed in such a short period of time.

I haven't tried this (yet) https://www.jackpocket.com/, but it sounds interesting and perhaps it would work for you. You pay a fee (don't know how much) based on the amount you deposit for purchases. You let them know what you want to play, they buy the tickets, email a receipt / hi-res ticket copy to you, and keep the original in a vault. If you win (<$600) they add it to your account (which you can transfer to your bank account). If you win more than $600 on a ticket, they send you the ticket. Let us know if this works for you!

I like Monmouth Park on a nice sunny day in the picnic area.
Cold beer and a dog.

Lottery; B-I-L is notorious cheap...His Son who is Lawyer and father of 3 is checking a lottery ticket. Dad walks by and starts scolding Son for being wasteful. Son wasn't having it anymore; :"Dad it's a freaking Dollar !"

No, but thinking of signing up for TVG so i can bet on the ponies.
I have an account with both TVG and DRF. TVG has more promotions but as far as racing content (videos, analysis, articles) DRF is the way to go. I only play TVG for the Super 5 and 8 which are free to play.

Be careful w the poker. I played online w a site called Paradise Poker, bout 10 years ago. Offshore but still, sat at my dining room w a view of 3 of the 8 seats hole cards plus my own.Low stakes table. Im not much of a techie or programmer, etc, seemed pretty easy to me. I havent returned to online play since. If there is money involved, bet someone is trying to scam it

WSOP.com, PokerStars and Borgata.

WSOP is the same network as 888 and has combined player pools with NJ, Nevada and Delaware. It gets the most traffic and has the biggest prize pools of the regulated sites.

PokerStars gets the 2nd most traffic, right now there is PokerStars PA and PokerStars NJ. The player pools are not combined. If playing on PS NJ you only play against NJ players, and in PA only against PA players. At some point in the future this will change and more states should combine.

Borgata is the same network as Party Poker and MGM Poker. You only play against NJ players. There are rumors that this will expand to Nevada soon.

Considering the 2006 UEGIA was tacked onto the Safe Port Act to make sure it passed, not a bad idea to try the opposite now, but not going to happen unless Sheldon Adelson, owner of Sands changes his mind. He's a big time Republican/Trump donor and he hates online gambling, thinks it takes money from his casino.

Was probably longer, Paradise went out of business in the US in 2006 with the UEGIA. In the instances of cheating and hole cards exposed in the past, the poker community has found out about it and reported it.

Right now the NJ sites I listed above are regulated, meaning they have to go through gaming commission code reviews and other steps in order to get a NJ license. The issues you may have to worry about are bots, collusion and maybe ghosting. Right now bots and ghosting probably aren't happening on NJ sites because you could do it 10 times more profitable on the sites that service the rest of world. Pluse the sites do a lot of work in trying to detect those. Collusion could be an issue, but that's mostly in cash games, if you suspect something, you can just leave the table and report it.

America's card room, which you could play anywhere in the US and has higher traffic and prize pools, has had server, bot and payout issues. Also they could be shutdown like PS and Full Tilt was at anytime.

Used to play a bit too much on Paradise back in the day. Bought in for about $100, turned it into about $10,000, cashed out $2000 and then one night, lost the remaining $8000 in about 4 hours. Absolute train wreck playing $40-$80 Omaha hi/lo. Couldn't pull out, but at least I didn't go back for more and then a week later was when the law changed shutting it all down and I know many who lost their money, so at least I got my two grand, lol.

To this day, I think I was being cheated by the site, somehow, especially after seeing a 60 Minutes story on the cheating that went on. There were just too many weird hands, including losing three times with the top full house to quads. In 4 hours. With $3-4K monster pots, two of which were high only. The odds on those losses in one session are astronomically low.

Haven't been back since, but I do have some free time post-retirement (although this friggin' coronavirus has become a little bit all-consuming for me) and had been going to PARX weekly until the shutdown, so maybe it's time to ease back in. Thanks for the intel.

Very liquid. I use my checking account for electronic transfers to my DRF account. There are no fees for using bank transfers for deposits or withdrawals. Winning and losing wagers are credited/debited to your account immediately. I suggest you check out both sites or use Google to get more information about funding/withdrawal options.

I should mention that tracks owned and operated by Churchill Downs (Churchill Downs, The Fairgrounds, Turfway Park, Hoosier Park, Arlington Park) are not available for betting on the DRF site. The one exception is for the Kentucky Derby when DRF uses a different betting platform that day so members can bet the entire Derby card.

I would be very leery of using a real checking account that you use for other things other than just the gambling site.

NEVER maintain a large balance at the site. Remove profits when they appear. Stay within a betting dollar range that you are comfortable with internally. IF your blood pressure is spiking and you're sweating, you're betting too large.

It's supposed to be fun.

Thanks for the info, tried to open a tvg account and it wouldn't go through. Might have been the settings on my computer but will probably just try drf instead.

Everyone has their own level of risk tolerance, but I am not concerned about any of the poker sites regulated by NJ, PA, or Nevada. I know people that play at some of the other sites like America's Cardroom and Bovada, but I that is above my risk tolerance level. To each his own though.

If I was so inclined to play online slots or other casino games of the regulated NJ sites I wouldn't be worried about those either. They are regulated by the state gaming commission and tested to pay out at their mathematically correct intervals, i.e. 96% for slots and games like that. I'd rather take the player edge I have in poker over the house edge in slots though.

For those that want a different type of fix, you could try this:

I did, had a good run at Russian table tennis
I was 29-11 first weekend (problem is a $20 bet pays about $8-10 on the odds I was playing)
Some you can watch live

I loved gambling in a casino and when it got closed I thought that at least I would be able to gamble with my friend. That was not an option because we were in our houses and we were not allowed to go anywhere. It was the most boring time of my life until I found casino-korea.com to save my life. I played poker there and I won a lot of money. It is really good to have a casino like that that is not rigged. I read about other places and people are saying that most of them are not good to play at because they are just taking your money.

Ran into an annoying issue when I was out of state and couldn't bet through TVG. The NJ-based app not working makes sense, but an NJ resident should be able to bet through the TVG app when they're in another state.

Yeah, no issue playing the NJ sites. I signed back up in mid-April, because our monthly poker game (ongoing since 1985; I joined in 1987) would've stopped. We all (7 of us) signed for a "home game" and played for play chips, but all agreed that it was a given dollar amount per chip. Only annoying thing was they still took a rake, so we had to subtract that out at the end of the night. We played a bunch of games we usually play: omaha hi/lo, hold-em, stud, draw, 2-7 triple draw, etc. and even figured out a way to play a no-limit tourney at the end of the night.

Was a lot of fun, but then one of the guys in the group, who is a gamer on Steam, went ahead and took their "Tabletop Simulator" poker game, which was kind of clunky as-is (allows players to have chips, bet them, deal and stuff, but it's 100% manual, so it's slow) and wrote a bunch of code to greatly improve the game. Now it will automatically deal all down cards (up are manual) and all community cards (both were a pain in the *** one at a time), he put in buttons to allow us to bet in all of our denominations (instead of manually selecting/dragging in chips), he added buttons automate folding and showing of all cards, and he added a feature to collect the pot and split it if needed.

Pretty slick and it's now about as fast as our home game and we can all play all the games we do, which include some oddballs that aren't on any commercial site, i.e,. 3-card hold-em (where one gets discarded after the flop), 2-3-5, 1-4-1-push, and several stud games where we allow replacing a card for a few dollars; we even play draw poker where there's a 2nd draw of one card only for $5 (most of our games are $2-4/3-6 level with a big win/loss for the night being $300 or so - nobody gets killed, but you can win/lose a few $$ - I'm well ahead, lol). We're now playing weekly and we're all on Skype, so we get to visit a bit too and insult each other all night. I imagine we might do on line once a month and in person once a month when this is all over, as not having to drive to the host's house and then home late is attractive to some of the crew.

I had a similar experience with.. PokerStars I think.. then read it was sometimes rigged on single tables.

I won 3 tournaments.. a few thousand each time... tried to increase the stakes (and thus increase my winnings) didn't work out that way. I broke even long term then walked away. Played a few tables in vegas.. again, broke even. Don't really have the patience for it. I catch myself trying to make things happen. A bad habit only mitigated slightly by a solid maths background.

As for #s buddy who hacked around with Tabletop Simulator.. you must really trust that guy.

One of my guys loves going to Monmouth Park and is dying for it to open up again. Saw him there once all cleaned up with his Polo ****, Fedora hat and big fat cigar in his mouth. He just loves horse racing. My wife and I go a couple times a year, it's always a fun time.

It's why I mostly just play at PARX since on-line disappeared - and until NJ came around with on-line I wasn't inclined to try that again. My buddy is completely trustworthy and none of us is playing with $$ we can't afford to lose, plus the funny thing is he was doing much better when we played together at Poker Stars - he's lost more than he's won at Tabletop Simulator so far, so if he's cheating, he sucks at it (and he could completely cheat being the "administrator" he's told us he is able to see our cards, but I think we'd see if he were doing that since we're on Skype (he's not manipulating anything while hands are in play).

That pokerstars story should be made into a movie... the basterds. And some dude used math and probability to PROVE they were cheating... iirc.

It happens in live games as well.. of course
