I read articles that blame "climate change" (of course).Yea the fake snow thing in places that don't get snow is lame.

So, at the end of the day, it's all about USA/China. If it's not China, you guys wouldn't say nothing.Makes sense. USA rocks.
How do you know they don't in Nigeria?I didn't edit.
If it's all about the birthplace, how come no one calls Hakeem Olajuwon a traitor?

Not a bad idea. This way countries would not have to keep building new arenas, stadiums, etc. What about Lake Placid?Beijing was a **** choice for winter, but there hasn't been decent snow for an Olympics for over a decade. Man-made snow is part of the game, and will continue to be, increasingly so.
They should just host it at one or two venues per continent with the best chance of snow -SLC, Japan, Switzerland/Norway, Vancouver or Calgary, done.
They got bought.Haven't watched a single lick of them.
Gotta love all the athletes from the US who werestrongarmedencouraged to represent China in the Olympic games.
Not all countries recognize dual citizenship.Gu’s mom is Chinese and was born in China so like many countries that makes Gu herself available if she so chooses.
I could compete for Ireland with Irish born grandparents but my kids can’t, too far removed.
My point is never about about politics. I am just saying this citizenship thing happens a lot in sports. How do you know they don't in Nigeria?
If you don't think Xi's going to shove Elieen in the USA's face you're naive. He's going to use her as a propaganda tool with or without her consent. He's going to take that Gold and shove it right up our ***. She's quite naive to think she made any difference except to become a propaganda tool for the Party. But she's only 18 you're a grown adult.
Not a bad idea. This way countries would not have to keep building new arenas, stadiums, etc. What about Lake Placid?

Like a permanent rotation.Beijing was a **** choice for winter, but there hasn't been decent snow for an Olympics for over a decade. Man-made snow is part of the game, and will continue to be, increasingly so.
They should just host it at one or two venues per continent with the best chance of snow -SLC, Japan, Switzerland/Norway, Vancouver or Calgary, done.

I was going to say…not the hockey guys. Not necessarily. Some of them have family back in China.
Lake Placid is one of the few that have ever made money. The economic influx it found in the following years far outweighed the price of the games. It became a boom town and destination location. Be a great place to have it again. Not a bad idea. This way countries would not have to keep building new arenas, stadiums, etc. What about Lake Placid?
I love these NBC shills and how they refer to her as the Chinese girl .She’s an American girl whose mother told her to compete for China. Model, top student will be a student at Stanford , has business ties to LV and Tiffany. Gotta hand it to those Chinese they love to buy American labor and products. Ask the NBA…Eileen Gu. Great purchase for China.
Wait didn’t someone just post “ she was born in Japan” . Now that is misinformation at it’s finest.Gu’s mom is Chinese and was born in China so like many countries that makes Gu herself available if she so chooses.
I could compete for Ireland with Irish born grandparents but my kids can’t, too far removed.

They were talking about the tennis player.Wait didn’t someone just post “ she was born in Japan” . Now that is misinformation at it’s finest.

What I was trying to say is it doesn't work both ways in some countries. It's OK if you want to be an athlete for their country but their citizens can't be athletes for other countries. Osaka was brought up earlier, it's Ok if she plays for Japan but if she was born and living in Japan she could not represent the USA if one parent was from the USA.That’s my point.
China’s rules my be different than ours or Ireland’s in the example I used.
Right. What I was trying to say is it doesn't work both ways in some countries. It's OK if you want to be an athlete for their country but their citizens can't be athletes for other countries. The post I was referencing was Aileen Gu the ski aerial competition. Her mom was born in China . But she is paid by the CCP. Sorry I’m in favor of competing for the country of your birth evidently some don’t feel that ‘s appropriate in our new global society. But then they couldn't all drink water from the well.
Like China. Not all countries recognize dual citizenship.
IOC is actually very flexible on nationality. Athletes can also compete for different countries in their career. What I was trying to say is it doesn't work both ways in some countries. Either way all I know thus far this is a bad showing from the USA we're not even close to medaling in a lot of these events.
Who said anything about watching the Olympics. It’s been a subject discussed all over the news for several weeks if not months. For a thread full of people NOT watching the Olympics, sure is a lot of talk about whoever this Gu woman is and what's happening at the Olympics.
But then thought about what @Caliknight (and surprisingly) Nancy Pelosi said, which is similar to what my Wife said…maybe it really wasn’t their choice?![]()
Eileen Gu. Great purchase for China.

That's what I was insinuating when I said they had family back in China: either compete for us or your family suffers.
She's a traitor. I wish they could revoke her citizenship.
She is going to Stanford this fall though. Maybe Cali can do something. She's a traitor. I wish they could revoke her citizenship.
Where did you see she dissed the country?Hey the girl scored a 1580 on her boards and is Stanford bound . Funny how she’s ok with choosing a top American University but dissed the country where she was born. Does anyone believe China would allow that in reverse? It is highly doubtful. Unless it included spying and acquiring sensitive technology .
Traitor? Stfu.
It’s not allowed in ChinaDoes anyone believe China would allow that in reverse? It is highly doubtful
Not talking IOC Japan does not allow it either. I finally saw our 1st medal won a silver in downhill. YayIOC is actually very flexible on nationality. Athletes can also compete for different countries in their career.
