The point being made was the score was telling you something. My point was one score for one game doesn't tell you anything. What did the 1-0 game the other day that Wheeler pitched tell you?

When did this game take place? Right after trade deadline. Timing says a lot to me surprised not to you

Except there's no one in the bullpen and Thor doesn't go more than 6 innings. We really need a CG from him, but that just doesn't happen any more.

While yesterday's game won't be forgotten anytime soon, today's was far more reflective of the 2018 Mets:
  • Dominated by an unheralded SP (the fact that he is a former Met was insult to injury).
  • Three runs on three solo HR's.
  • Thor OK but not dominant.
  • Can't get the big hit when it matters.
  • Poor defense resulting in the margin of defeat.

Besides that, it sounds like they played well.

His ESPN profile http://www.espn.com/mlb/player/_/id/31706/tommy-milone still has picture of him as a Met. On the boxcore it looks like a Met pitcher won and lost (http://www.espn.com/mlb/game?gameId=380801120). Only in Met land

Reyes hits 2 HR's and still sucks. I cannot believe he'll be on the roster all year taking away ABs from timeyou guys who need them.

Reyes just saved his job for of being a sacrificial lamb last night and hitting 2 Homer's today. He will be rewarded by Jeffy with a 2 year contract extention.

Holland released by Cards. Can deduct him from the draining list of guys the coupons didn't want this off-season that I did (i.e. a shocking +1 for them)

It is right that you not believe it, as it will not happen. He will not take any AB's from McNeil. Who else needs or deserves them?

Evans is an organizational depth guy who is on the MLB roster because 25 guys have to be. He is not a prospect. At least the Mets do not think so, otherwise they would not have outrighted/DFA'd him TWICE within the last 12 months.

And I might add, the rest of MLB does not think he's much of a prospect either, else somebody would have snapped him up.

Would anyone take a flier on Shawn Kelley, who got released by Washington for slamming his glove? Decent stats: 35 innings, 3.34 ERA, 0.96 WHIP, 32 strikeouts in 32.1 innings.

Technically they didn't release him, they DFA'd him. They have seven days to trade him. I think they will be able to trade him to a contender if they are willing to eat some of his expiring contract. He won't bring back much, but something is better than nothing.

Transactions du jour: Frazier activated, Evans to DL, Wahl up (he's the RP obtained in the Familia trade), Rhame down again. Matz' MRI negative and he avoids the DL for now.

Cespedes: "Doctors removed the calcification and a portion of the bone in his right foot. Cespedes is expected to require 8-10 months of rehab, which means he won't be ready for the start of the 2019 season. The 32-year-old outfielder is owed more than $65 million on a contract that runs through 2020."

Surgery on left was supposedly in 2-3 months.

So if Yoenis is having surgery on his left heel in three months, with an 8-10 month recovery period, it's pretty much sayonara until 2020.

The Wilpons are happy about that. They pocket the insurance money and get to say that the Mets payroll is $150 million. Win-win for them. Heck, they may sign all kinds of injury prone players from now on. Scumbags.
