Reyes should be cut ASAP. He can't hit or field. Just because he had a good second half last year doesn't mean he will this year and his abysmal performance so far is costing us when we can have at least replacement poster here like Guillorme.

Welp, after officials somehow didnt overturn the call on that stolen base where Dyson was clearly out, Matz did what Matz does best: gives up a two run homer to a random shmuck...

YAY!!!! :mad::mad::mad:
Callaway needs to learn how to manage situations. Twice with 2 outs, a risp and the pitcher on deck he doesn't walk the batter and twice it burned his ***. Which means he didn't even learn the 1st time.

Oh shush. Walking the #8 hitter in that situation is not automatic. Especially when the #9 hitter has a better BA than the #8 hitter. As Casey said, you can look it up.

But wait there's more. In the second instance, the open base was created by the stolen base on a 1-2 count. I have never seen an intentional walk issued on a 1-2 count. At least not to John Ryan Frickin' Murphy.

Nobody said it was automatic Casey. Few things in the game are. You make your choices as a manager and live with the consequences. And of course open yourself up for second guessing. And I don't care about BA's in a small sampling of AB's such as that of a pitcher. Other than your rare Bill Gullickson.....no manager would rather face any position player in that situation than the pitcher.

Last night's Walk / Don't Walk taught us that Mickey Callaway is not one to fall on his sword for what he believes to be the deficiencies of his players. In his post-game comments, he made it clear that he expects his pitcher (and also catcher) to properly execute pitch-around situations. In particular he criticized throwing Murphy a change up on 3-2, which Matz mistakenly left out over the plate. Calloway's logic is that in a pitch-around situation, the pitcher should be throwing fastballs. Why? Because (presumably at least) the pitcher can control the fastball better than any other pitch, and is least likely to make a mistake with it.

Hopefully Callaway had previously communicated that to his pitchers and catchers. Otherwise his criticism is very unfair IMO.

Call up any pitcher from triple A (double or single is fine too) and pen in a guaranteed shutout.

For as f'd up as this team has played with injuries and all, it is a miracle that it looks like they will be 2.5 games out of first. LGM.

Bautista was just released by the Braves after about 12 games. If the Mets had signed him, they’d keep him until Sept.

He’s old, slow, washed-up, strikes out a lot, and is cheap...I’m guessing a Mets signing is imminent.

They are still in it. Braves and Phillies young and loaded but may not be ready for October. Mets could stumble in...Stranger things have happened.

They have Acuna while the Mets have Phillip Evans.
I get your point, but your example is unfair. If you want to compare Acuna with any Met, compare him with Rosario. Compare Evans with the 25th man on the Atlanta roster, whomever that is.

Some Mets News:

- Reportedly interested in Jose Bautista for OF Depth and maybe 3B as as well.
- Mesoraco who I really like is having xrays on his elbow after being hit with a bat via a swing. I hope he's ok as I really like him. Good influence with Pitching staff and has some pop

Per mets.com, looks like you may have guessed right.

Can't disagree with anything in your post, but I would say that signing Joey Bats is not the disease, it's just a symptom.

As bad as the Mets have been for a month, they are only 1 game back in the WC standings. It will be a battle all season,as there are 8 teams at .500 or better in the NL. The AL is pathetic with only 4 teams in the WC race at .500 or better. What has happened to the Junior league?
AL has wide divergence because the AL is top heavy with the three best teams in baseball in Boston, NY, and Houston. Not sure why having more mediocre teams makes for a better league but that's the type of comment someone makes when their own team is mediocre. I get it.

The sad thing is that it's actually a pretty good signing, in the sense that he's better than any 3B-OF available within their system. Which is sad.

NVM... He got pinch hit for by Bruce. At least he filed out to center to end the game. What's the point?
