I was 100% wrong on the Mets start this season, did not think they'd have such a great start when they looked so awful in preseason. I know it doesn't mean anything, but an awful preseason team usually doesn't come out firing like the Mets have. Couldn't be happier with their start. Doing everything right, and even pitchers that have had blow ups under Terry (Ramos, Robles, Familia), are getting it done without getting lit up.
This is because Mickey Callaway is a breath of fresh air after years of Sling Blade being managed of the Mets.
More like 79-81 more to secure a post season spot. To win the division, I'm thinking 83 more will do it. The Nats because of an improved division won't come close to running away this year. No way the Nats win 97 regular season games this year.

Why? Get 81-90 more to win the division. As 2016 proved, you better win the division instead playing in the one game WC game.
Of course the goal is to win the division, but I'm trying to Curb My Enthusiasm,:stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

Let's put this one away early and get ready for the Nats on Friday. I would like to see Ces get tonite off but with a lefty going for the fish he probably starts. He has not been in a good grove all season. He has been clutch the last two nights late but in fairness he was also lucky those two ab's. One broken bat hit Monday and a misplay by Anderson last night. But I will take it. I'd rather be lucky than good.
They play the Brewers on Friday. Need to sweep the Marlins. Important debut for Wheeler tonight and Mets need to continue to put teams away.
Nice comeback win last night. Would like to see the starters lengthen their outings a bit since you can't expect to rely on the bullpen this heavily over the long haul.
The MLB average last year was 5.51 innings per start. There was not a lot of dispersion around that mean. The Mets were 27th in MLB last year in that stat, averaging 5.34 innings per start. In other words, while we talk of how the Mets bullpen was burned out last year, their starters averaged only half an out less than the league average.

Mets are going with an eight man bullpen as we all knew they eventually would. That leaves room for only four bench players. Nimmo was the only possible choice. He will no doubt be back.
Supposedly he's been really sick since Sunday but he wants to keep playing. He was late on a bunch of 92 MPH fastballs last night, a clear sign something is up. I'd also like to see him just sit tonight, get the extra benefit of tomorrow's off day, and hopefully be back to 100% for the weekend series.
I've wouldve tobe apesh** last year. But I can clearly see the reasons why Nimmo was sent down. So I'm going to enjoy the ride.
To those who are mocking Mets fans for being so happy after only 10 games, a little perspective. If the Mets, going forward "only" play .500 the rest of the season, that would give them 85 wins. Last year, in the AL, the Twins got in the post season with 85, and in the NL, the Rockies got in with 87. Would any Yankee fan care to place a wager the Mets play below .500 the rest of the way?
