Optimistic. We are looking good and healthy so far. Plus the young guys are continuing to get better. Happ has looked real good in the lead off spot. That said, the Brewers and Cards got better too.
I am not that optimistic about the Mets. Pitching looks great at the beginning of the season. Let's see if that holds up. Offense relying only on the long ball of 2 sluggers is not a way to win enough game to win the pennant.

I know I promised not to post here but I have to ask two questions:
1. What has Vegas set as the over/under on Mets wins this season ?
2. How many of you have laid down any money on the Amazins exceeding that total ?

According to this, Mets is at 81 wins while the Yanks are at 94.5. I might go over if I'm the type.

My greatest hope is to still have Thor and deGrom fully healthy and at least one of Harvey/MAtz healthy and pitching well as we hit June.
Our lineup...could get interesting. Do our catchers keep hitting? Flores/Nimmo? Can these guys get 400 AB's and play the way they are now? Cespedes -stay healthy(he is crushing the ball now) Can our young SS and old 2B get in a full productive year? Todd and Bruce...can both get 30HR? A lot of questions but so much better then having to rely on Reyes as a full time player(I actually like him a lot as a bench guy)
This could be a very interesting year...I am hoping that both NY teams have a great summer and find their way into the playoffs.

I am really worried about the lineup. So reliant on the HR to score runs. If the pitching holds up and they don't burn out the bullpen by May, they may have a shot at the WC.

About 1st Base. Saw this:

New York Yankees had free agent Adam Lind in camp earlier in the spring.

Why is Lind still a free agent, while the Mets signed Adrian Gonzalez? Lind has a career .272 BA, and batted .303 last year.

More on Lind:

Playing for a 2017 division winner, Lind hit .303 with 14 homers in 59 RBIs in 267 at-bats as a first baseman/left fielder who played in 116 games and started 61. He hit .303 against righties, .310 against lefties and batted .356 in 45 pinch-hit at-bats.

A Washington Nationals staffer added that Lind "was loved, loved, loved by his teammates."
Was his agent asking for too much money? Too many years?

"No," Lind said. "I was just looking for a J-O-B. This is what I got."

Gonzalez was the cheaper option as they are only paying him the league minimum. Lind was a better option at this point in his career but as usual the Wilpons went for the cheaper option.

Speaking of numbers, just had a painful flashback to Top 10 / 1986 after seeing Swarzak and his #38 (Aguilera). Of course this was immediately followed by the greatest comeback in the history of sports, so you wear that #38 with pride.

I know it's been 3 years since the Yankees backdoor the Mets off of WFAN, after 28 years as the franchise that helped put the talk radio station on the map. Have the Mets ever tried to get back on the FM dial, since WOR in plenty of places around Central Jersey get a pretty ****** signal. From Raismann,

"George Steinbrenner let anyone listening know how thrilled he would be to have his Bombers associated with FAN, knowing full well the station was contractually tied to the Mets. When it comes to radio, the Boss proved tampering is cool in baseball.

In 2013, it finally happened. FAN unceremoniously kicked the Mets to the curb and, with great fanfare, announced a new 10-year radio partnership with the Yankees. The Mets landed on WOR, owned by iHeartMedia, and revealed the station’s management did not want the players appearing on other radio outlets, especially WFAN.
