If you would have told me back in mid-April the Reds would have a higher winning percentage than the Mets by the end of June I would have said you're Nuts !
I thought Callaway was the pitching expert? Well, it seems Cincy has worked out some issue concerning Harvey. Check this out:

The second question is very easy to answer. Dom Smith does not know how to bunt because he never did it. The first question is the more troublesome.
I had this conversation, today, with three people - all baseball fans. One is a Mets fan, the other two are not.
The Mets fan pretty much echoed what's been said on the subject, in this thread.
The other two simply didn't believe me.
That's how completely out of touch this organization is. You have a situation, the club's representative explains the situation and when you relate that explanation to disinterested baseball fans with no prior knowledge of the situation their reaction is, "I don't believe you."
RU4Real - agree with you 100%. It is astonishing that an organization in such a competitive and lucrative environment would be so inept. I am a firm believer that strong organizations must have excellent leadership. The Mets' ownership is so inadequate that it is virtually impossible for the team to be successful on a consistent basis.
I don't totally agree with this. You don't need a Steinbrenner or a Jerry Jones to win. A passive ownership style can work just fine - as long as ownership puts the right leader in place and gives him the support needed to do his job. Problem is, it's becoming increasingly clear that Alderson is not that guy. Or at least, is no longer that guy. The question is do the Wilpons believe this, and if so, are they willing to act?
We can clamor all we want about the Wilpons selling the team. Ain't happening. If your well-being as a Mets fan is dependent on their selling the team, better find another team.
DoctorWorm - I agree with you that ownership does not have to be in the Steinbrenner/Jones mode. There are certainly different styles of ownership that can be successful. My view is that regardless of style the Wilpon/Katz ownership style is simply not competent. And while passive ownership is neither good nor bad per se, the Wilpons are not an example of passive ownership. Although they may not be as publicity hungry as Steinbrenner/Jones, they are actively involved in the management of the franchise. Since they are not competent in this arena it is all the more frustrating.
As far as the Wilpons selling the team I agree with you. I mentioned that in a prior post. They don't need the money and ownership of the Mets is what Jeff Wilpon wants to do with his life. It is extremely unlikely the family sells as long as Jeff wants to run the team. Very unfortunate for Mets fans.

Daughter got me tickets for Fathers Day game in July. I am going. Hoping to see lots of new players mixed in with Nimmo Conforto and Rosario. Dismantle the team now. Trade either Jake now or Thor when healthy. If Wilpons won’t spend money, the farm system is years away from truly helping

That's like a PGA Tour golfer who doesn't know how to hit a sand wedge. Every Little League player was taught how to bunt the damn ball. He could be honest and say "I haven't bunted in 10 years" but to say he never learned how to bunt and he's in the majors? My mind is blown if true.
Are you sure you want to trade away an ace? Mets don't have a history of getting quality back in return when they trade pitchers. Think of Seaver back in the day. Besides, quality pitching is rare these days. How many teams have an ace let alone two? If the Mets had an abundance of quality pitchers, then I'm more inclined to trade Noah or deGrom for quality position players. You have some tier two guys you could trade for some solid prospects. I don't see teams giving up a few tops prospects and MLB ready talent for an ace. Also, you have control of Noah and deGrom for the next few seasons, so it seems foolish to trade them at this point.
In fairness Smith never said anything about it. It was Callaway who said he didn't have Smith bunting because he had never bunted in a professional game. And why would he? He's been the best hitter on every team he's been on, until now.
Alderson is at fault here on this one IMO. He should be establishing organizational standards from Rookie League on up. Every player should be required to develop certain core competencies (bunting, hitting to the opposite field, two-strike hitting, etc.) and reinforce those skills in games. Even if it means losing the game for the sake of skill development. And if the minor league manager isn't willing to get with the program, Alderson would need to find someone who will.
Hope it's nothing serious healthwise but I hope he resigns so that he can take care of this.
