Norte Dame Cathedral in Paris is burning down. 800 years old. Suspected that renovations lead to a fire.

Seems many of the statues and artifacts

were removed last week, due to construction underway.

If they are truly not attempting to put the fire out because they can’t get fire trucks to scene secondary to crowds the entire Paris political scene needs to be removed. If they won’t get the 17 out of the way run the 17 over them. You do not allow an 800 yr old world history site to simply burn down because crowds can’t be bothered to allow access for emergency crews.

Hopefully so, maybe some of the building can be salvaged. Hate to see history disappear and burn

It should’t burn to the ground. The shell will be left but it will be gutted on the inside. The buttresses on the outside support the cathedral walls so all the interior can burn and it wouldn’t cause the shell to fall.

this is awful....its gut wrenching to watch. ive been twice and toured the upper area....those timbers probably went up like a matchstick...but its certainly odd that it started well after 6:00 paris time and is being attributed to construction work by some networks. seems fishy to me.

Please don't start that. It is not uncommon at all for major work like that to go on all hours of the day and night - especially in major cities. Besides that, a small spark could have lit a fire that smoldered for quit a while before full igniting.

The folks hired to clean up at construction sites aren't always the most OSHA compliant.. especially when it comes to the disposal of oil, solvents and rags associated with restoration projects.

I can’t believe the scaffolding hasn’t collapsed inwards yet. You can see the the very center on the scaffolding rested on a roof that is no longer there. The heat has got to be weakening that metal.

Sometimes those fires are caused by welding. Hot metal sparks thrown off by the welding can be up to 2500 degrees. When they fall in the wrong place it doesn’t take long for the whole thing to go up in flames.

In some cases the small fire or smolder is concealed and doesn’t actually ignite a larger fire until later in the day or evening.

I can’t believe so many idiots are pointing to the scaffolding and calling it the wooden roof structure. Or they are calling it a wooden scaffolding. Have that few people ever seen scaffolding that can accurately identify it?

And they are still claiming the bell towers are involved. Any body can clearly loom at the TV and see the bell towers are NOT on fire.

Going on 850 days of protest against Trump.
Going on 3770 straight days of protest against Obama.

What's your point.

hence why you typically have a fire watch 2-3 hours after said welding situation.
