this is awful....its gut wrenching to watch. ive been twice and toured the upper area....those timbers probably went up like a matchstick...but its certainly odd that it started well after 6:00 paris time and is being attributed to construction work by some networks. seems fishy to me.
According to Twitter all artwork was removed so it is safe.were removed last week, due to construction underway.
Guess I can cross that site off the list next month when I go there
Norte Dame Cathedral in Paris is burning down. 800 years old. Suspected that renovations lead to a fire.
They say bad things happen in 3s...and it has been a run of bad luck for Catholic Churches in France the past 3 months. No speculation just observation.

Sometimes those fires are caused by welding. Hot metal sparks thrown off by the welding can be up to 2500 degrees. When they fall in the wrong place it doesn’t take long for the whole thing to go up in flames.
In some cases the small fire or smolder is concealed and doesn’t actually ignite a larger fire until later in the day or evening.
