2nd night of a back to back on the road. They've beaten Nashville, Vegas and LA Kings so far on the road- three good playoff teams. They're only down 2-1, plenty of time left.Haven't watched the devil's much this year...they look terrible today
Very sloppy.. luck to be down 1. Of course I posted in hopes of the SN JINX working again.2nd night of a back to back on the road. They've beaten Nashville, Vegas and LA Kings so far on the road- three good playoff teams. They're only down 2-1, plenty of time left.
Definitely a little sluggish in the first, some fatigue I suppose.
Was about to tell you to have faith, but just looked at the schedule again. Tough rest of the way, against mostly playoff teams.Tonight may be the nail in the coffin on this season.
Brutal brutal performance.
HUH? To the season part of your comment. Should we ask Yogi if it is over? Or maybe John Belushi ?Tonight may be the nail in the coffin on this season.

My wife , son and I have our tickets for Saturday and can't wait !!!!!No, it's not over but the road is now very difficult. The surrounding teams have much easier schedules than the Devils do.
Columbus and Florida have been scorching hot in March and the Devils have been treading water since 2018 began. They may need to win 6 of remaining 9 to make playoffs -- and the next two games are at Pitt and v. Tampa. At least 6 of the final 9 are at home.
Why didn't they trade for a goalie?
Because the best they would have ended up with is someone like Mrazek, like Philly got.
Also, at the trade deadline they would have certainly believed that Schneider would come back healthy and effective.
They will be in the playoffs my friend have faith!Well if they make the playoffs.....hope they match up with Pittsburgh.
Big win tonight. Whether or not they make it...fun to play meaningful hockey this late into season.

Hall put the team on his back last night. The defense seemed undisciplined at times - I think a better team than Carolina would have scored 2 or 3 more.Big win again tonight. Could have let it get away but the Devils kept coming back. Looked like a Playoff atmosphere at the rock for the go ahead goal with a minute and a half left.
They’re all big ones from here on out.

I still think there is only about a 50% chance the Devils make the playoffs.
6 games left but the play of Columbus and Florida is amazing.
Columbus is 9-1-1 in the last 10 and Florida is 7-3-0 in their last 10
The Devils have played some ugly games this year and they have still found ways to win
You do not want to miss the playoffs for 6 years in a row
If the Rangers move to Nashville, would anyone notice?:sunglasses:Why, what happens? Rangers fans start talking about the team moving to Nashville, again??? :joy:
I think the tiebreaker is ROW (regulation/overtime wins) which is so stupid. Devils have 2 more wins than Philly with a game in hand but are 2 points back because Philly has a ton of loser points. If the Devs and Flyers finish tied in points do the Devs get the tiebreaker based upon wins?
I agree. I hate the way the NHL does its standings.I think the tiebreaker is ROW (regulation/overtime wins) which is so stupid. Devils have 2 more wins than Philly with a game in hand but are 2 points back because Philly has a ton of loser points.

I did a quick check of the teams involved (Pittsburgh, Philadelphia, Columbus, New Jersey, and Florida).I agree. I hate the way the NHL does its standings.

Had a groin injury in January, which may play into it, but lack of confidence is a strong theory at this point. What happened to him?
Something mental I presume.
I attended a game in December and he was phenomenal in a win.
To the Leafs. Lou helping from a distance.Panthers lose
This makes sense too. But what was wrong with the old format (2 pts for a win, 1 for tie)?I did a quick check of the teams involved (Pittsburgh, Philadelphia, Columbus, New Jersey, and Florida).
If you use my preferred method of 3 points for a regulation win, 2 points for an overtime or shootout win, 1 point for an overtime or shootout loss, and 0 points for a regulation loss, the standings would look as follows:
Pittsburgh: 123 points and 77 games played. 31 - 12 - 6 - 28 record
Columbus: 120 points and 77 games played. 29 - 14 - 5 - 29 record
Florida: 118 points and 74 games played. 33 - 6 - 7 - 28 record
Philadelphia: 118 points and 77 games played. 28 - 10 - 14 - 25 record
New Jersey: 117 points and 76 games played. 29 - 11 - 8 - 28 record
Would reward regulation victories more than gimmick overtime wins.
But the NBA does not have tie's at all. Also very rare to see an NBA OT game go beyond a single OT. Happened all too often in the NHL. Just too many tie's in the league. I'd prefer the shootout with the 3 point system. This makes sense too. But what was wrong with the old format (2 pts for a win, 1 for tie)?
Is a tie worse than a shootout? Does the nba decide games on a 3 point contest?

The fact that the NHL's primary reason for not moving to this system, despite massive agreement by pretty much everyone that it's way better, is because of concerns on how this would change the record book, that should tell you all you need to know.I was OK with the ties.
What I HATE with a passion is that some games are worth two points and others are worth three.
Make each game worth three points.
- Win in regulation and you get all the points.
- Tied after regulation, both teams get one point. The gimmick/skills competition decides the final point (whether the 3 on 3 or shootout).
I don't like that teams can be incentivized in a game tied late to play for a tie. Make going to OT be viewed as a lost point.
Should probably just look it up, but how many of Marty’s wins at the end come from shootouts that would have been ties in the old system? The fact that the NHL's primary reason for not moving to this system, despite massive agreement by pretty much everyone that it's way better, is because of concerns on how this would change the record book, that should tell you all you need to know.
