dude can recruit, but certainly can't coach. No surprise here.
I cannot believe he lasted 8 years there, losing more than twice as many games as he's won. Gotta give Maryland some credit for not pulling the trigger too early like so many schools do nowadays, I guess. They checked that box for a lot longer than I anticipated.
Maryland football has been a colossal disappointment since joining the Big Ten. Maybe being stuck in the B1G East just made it too tough to stay above water. I agree that they are a sleeping giant and could do some great things with the right coach. They are a solid coach away from being a real threat in the big10. That area has an insane recruiting footprint. I am assuming donors will be jumping on board if they have a breakout season.
yeah. It's shocking he lasted so long. Seemingly always went 3-0 or 4-0 vs out of conference cupcakes, and then maybe win 1 or 2 BIG games.I cannot believe he lasted 8 years there, losing more than twice as many games as he's won. Penn State has had a strong footprint there for years. Locksley was a solid recruiter but coaching always a ?.They are a solid coach away from being a real threat in the big10. Probably because he didn't keep Brian around as an analyst long enough to develop that kind of complicated offense.Probably didn’t run the ball enough.
I think before they are a sleeping giant they should have to be a giant. They've just been sleeping since the 50's.I cannot believe he lasted 8 years there, losing more than twice as many games as he's won. Shades of the Illini Football program...They are a solid coach away from being a real threat in the big10. That area has an insane recruiting footprint. I am assuming donors will be jumping on board if they have a breakout season.

major sleazebag
He was as an assistant at Illinois......I had to laugh when the B1G Network guys went on about what a great guy he was.major sleazebag
I didn't realize that Ron Zook is the special teams quality control analyst for Maryland.
Had to get a job somewhere. Another guy who was not a good HC....I didn't realize that Ron Zook is the special teams quality control analyst for Maryland.
Bite your tongue. Fresno State is 4-3 in the mighty Pac-12. You don't achieve those lofty results without an awesome O-line coach.Probably because he didn't keep Brian around as an analyst long enough to develop that kind of complicated offense.
You're right. Better promote him immediately to OC and quarterback coach. And I mean now! They shouldn't bother interviewing other candidates!Bite your tongue. Fresno State is 4-3 in the mighty Pac-12. You don't achieve those lofty results without an awesome O-line coach.
I wonder if Locksley had hired BF as a favor....Bite your tongue. Fresno State is 4-3 in the mighty Pac-12. You don't achieve those lofty results without an awesome O-line coach.
And Petras is his assistantBite your tongue. Fresno State is 4-3 in the mighty Pac-12. You don't achieve those lofty results without an awesome O-line coach.
If memory serves he was involved in some illegal and shady recruiting while he was an assistant at Illinois, and some stuff at New Mexico where he was fired after two seasons with a 2-26 record. Reportedly he punched out one of his assistants in 2009, and had a sexual harassment claim filed against him there.I saw a post about him being a sleaze bag. Never heard that before. I was thinking we might see him on the Iowa sideline soon. Especially if he is as good a recruiter as some people here say.
Might be a solid move for Maryland, but we've seen this type of move before with Les Miles types. If they can pull Manny Diaz away from Duke, I'd probably make that move instead.I've heard some rumors that Brian Kelly is going to take over at Maryland
He's not that good of a recruiter. That DC metro area is absolutely loaded with talent, they would pull in one of the top recruits, but that was it. The rest would head out of the area. Iowa won't have the money, but someone like Zion Elee would be an absolute beast in our defense.I saw a post about him being a sleaze bag. Never heard that before. I was thinking we might see him on the Iowa sideline soon. Especially if he is as good a recruiter as some people here say.
