I want to know if Carroo wasn't performing at a high level, would Rutgers fans be as kind to him as Mets fans are to Wright? Perhaps Wright (age 32) isn't the same player he was 5 years ago.
Of course he's not the same player as he was 5 years ago. Between the injuries and the old inevitable time factor, 32 is the PROPER age to start declining unlike in the steroid era. He was on a hall of fame pace the first 5 seasons- definitely not a HOFer but he's still a very good hitter and fielder, as well as a big piece to the puzzle.

Just gonna point this out to our resident typical-Yankme fans kbee and t2k. Chirping all season long how the Mets can't beat any good teams. What happened there guys come back to the thread!
I have been at every home playoff game and with the exception of Game 4 vs LA where there wasn't much to cheer about...the crowds have been so terrific...even during the last 2 nights - which was cold...real cold.....Kudos to all Met fans...
Just got home @2:30 am. Awesome ! Trying to stay calm and not think about deGrom vs a 4/5 inning number 3 or 4 starter . Get up early and let the big dOG eat em up!

Kendrick has actually pitched well in his last few outings other than giving up long balls to the Cardinals. I wonder what the wind will be doing this week in the Windy City. Temperatures should be warmer than they were these last two games.
I remember when John Stearns beat the crap out of a young Bill Gullickson when he drilled a Mets batter right after giving up a long ball. Dragged him all around the infield in a headlock. That "DUDE" you didn't mess with. Remember when Dave Parker wound up with a broken cheekbone trying to bowl him over at the plate. He was a former defensive back who played baseball with that same mentality. I also remember Jeff Reardon coming up with the Mets.
Certainly recall the problem with the Mets is too many Latin Players crowd. Always followed up with some give me some scrappy young guys who will hustle thing. Basically claiming that Omar Minaya was biased and ruining the team by bringing in too many of a certain ethnicity. The same Omar Minaya who can be credited with putting much of this largely homegrown team together.
I would have to look it up to remember who was in the rotation then. I do recall the time when the Mets had only one decent starter, that being Craig Swan. Do remember Neil Allen well though. Went to St. Louis in the Keith Hernandez trade right?
Pete Falcone was awful. But he was very popular at Shea due to his being a local guy. But do you think Mike Scott cheated. I tend to just think he was ahead of the curve by developing a pitch that no one else was really throwing at the time, so hitters were dumbfounded as to what to do against it. Or did Bruce Sutter start throwing that pitch before Scott?
The dread of Game 2 2006 has now been put to bed. Yesterday was lining up too painfully similar and then somehow the final out was secured.

There were plenty of fork balls around. What Mike did was with a piece of sandpaper the size of a pin head, he'd put a tiny scrape on the ball and his fastball would sail in either direction he wanted it to...he was virtually unhittable with the Astros for two years.
According to Mets.com, the bruise Harvey took on that line drive is worse than anticipated, and his status for Game 5 is uncertain. He is scheduled to throw tomorrow, and they'll know more then.
Werthen and Collins seem to have different opinions on the state of the bruise. Werthen said Harvey will go.
Would have been a sickening watch at 1-1. Hopefully deGrom can go into that stadium and shut 'em down. We have a game to play to with, but hopefully that's G4.

Wrigley is a joke of stadium. A pure bandbox. Any other stadium that's a long flyball. Also, d'Arnaud has to make deGrom inside to the Cubs' hitter. It seems like they know he's going to throw off the plate, so they are going to slap it to the opposite field. This may be a high scoring game and if it is Duda has to come up big. Can't have holes in the lineup today.
This has the feel of a very long night. That HR indeed was a joke - have to hope for the wind to be blowing in one of these next couple games.
